Terrible Mom Battling Rare ALS Pleads for 'Compassionate Use' of New Life-Saving Drug Biogen Won't Give Her
Maybe they’ll get it from one the reps they’re forcing back in the field by doubling the call expectations?
There are a lot of rules around when and how you can give out drugs for compassionate use. I’m guessing there is more to this story, as usually companies are eager to give out drug to avoid bad PR.
This is prime example of the article author using hyperbole and NOT telling the complete story. while I’m NOT a trumper, one of his hallmark narratives about ‘fake news’ does sometime hold water. The ‘news’ is no longer about providing the news; it’s about how they can spin a story so it fits what their audience wants to hear. That on turn strengthens ratings (or click through) and leads to better ad revenue. It’s a business of subtle lies and only partial coverage of the story. journalists are heading the same direction as the cable company, airlines and cell phone providers....lower and lower in public perception and rankings.
Another Biogen drug with an attempt at carefully designing a trial to engineer an outcome Management is not too confident in this drug outside of the perfectly manicured trial design and outside of the small handful of sites selected. Giving it to someone outside of the setup, with media attention to if it works/doesn’t work, is too big of a risk. BTW, did you see the protest outside the Cambridge office? There were actually a few Biogen employees there. Look at the pictures.
The nejm data didn't look very good with timelines that seem to keep extending. Wish something worked significantly on als (even some forms) but didn't look like this was it.
