    POSITION: Physician Liaison

    POSITION SUMMARY:


    Responsible for identifying, cultivating, and maintaining new and existing referring relationships with physician groups in the assigned territory. This role is responsible for providing a high level of customer service by presenting information on Mass Eye and Ear Otolaryngology and Ophthalmology services and facilities, while identifying obstacles to business growth. Individual will be accountable for onboarding new Mass Eye and Ear faculty by implementing successful business development strategies to support and grow physician practices across the network. Collaboration with the Mass Eye and Ear leadership team is essential to ensure growth priorities are in line with the vision and strategic goals of the organization.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Serve as a liaison for Mass Eye and Ear referral sources; develop mutually beneficial relationships through face-to-face visits with physicians, referral coordinators, practice managers and medical staff from referring physician offices and community hospitals. The liaison will ensure understanding of Mass Eye and Ear services and work to uncover and minimize referral obstacles.

    2. Must be able to present in front of a large audience. Liaison will host presentations and CME/CE events to educate referring providers and practice staff on Mass Eye and Ear services, programs and clinical topics. Must have excellent active listening skills and work to understand the current perception of our services, while identifying physician needs and concerns.

    3. Excellent follow up skills are required to enhance customer satisfaction and strengthen relationships with referral sources.

    4. Frequent issue resolution for referring providers in the assigned territory is required. Liaison will work collaboratively with service line directors, department chairs, site managers and leadership team to resolve issues and improve service lines. Must have the ability to recognize acute problems (i.e. need for urgent outpatient referral) and know how to coordinate effectively in a large organization in order to receive a timely solution.

    5. Onboard new MEE physicians by introducing physicians to referring providers, coordinating speaking opportunities, community events, continuing medical education courses and other assigned network opportunities.

    6. Maintain existing and cultivate new relationships with community providers and other entities that are mutually beneficial for the referral source, staff and organization.

    7. Support events as needed, specifically intended to nurture referral relationships and enhance faculty and MEE reputation.

    8. Must be strong in data analysis. Interpret current physician referral patterns utilizing existing Tableau reporting tools and market intelligence to assess opportunities for strategic growth within the network. Coordinate and manage regular meetings with leadership team to review data and discuss current and future growth strategy.

    9. Create content and work with design team to develop marketing collateral for physicians and programs that are being promoted.

    10. Maintain detailed monthly reports by documenting each provider interaction and measuring key activities and impacts.

    11. Communicate in a manner that supports the organization’s vision, mission and values.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelor’s degree required. Three to five years of experience in healthcare sales, business development or similar capacity. Proven record of organization and independent work. Must possess superb interpersonal communication skills with excellent follow through and enthusiasm for customer service and relationships. Must be flexible and may have occasional evening and weekend program work. Must have a car as this position requires travel across network. Demonstrated knowledge of business planning methods, marketing concepts, research and data collection process as well as strong project management skills. Must be self-motivated with a strong desire to learn while utilizing critical thinking skills.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Remote office, must have a car and valid driver’s license.
    Position requires travel within Boston suburban areas.
