Op clearly is a rookie. The point was to free Janssen from the anchors called Medtech and Consumer.

Step outside of the jnj bubble and you'll realize how bad the brand is.

Correct, the consumer realizes JNJ is just a Corporate pig.

Wrong. AG was fixated on using the jnj name and showing up as one entity. The problem was that doctors don't care a twit about the jnj name. People in jnj overvalue the name and what was once a sterling reputation. Dumping consumer was JD idea to mollify the leaches on wall street. They've wanted the break up for years.

Yes, the whole idea is to isolate Pharma thinking the stock will soar without the drag of consumer and device. Leadership knew it was unlikely they would be able to shift all the talc liability to Kenvue, but it was worth a shot.

Doctors love J&J. J&J has a stellar reputation.

There is truth to this. J&J is a recognized brand name. I have attended several medical society conferences related to surgery where physicians questioned why the J&J brand name was not being used or prominent on many J&J surgical products.

And now Kenvue will continue using the Johnson's brand name for baby products under an exclusive, indefinite license per the IPO filing.

It seems to me all the boneheaded moves made by J&J in the last decade were orchestrated by McKinsey. McKinsey consultants tell J&J management what decisions to make. If you want to know how bad McKinsey is, just check out the performance of their most famous alum, Pete Buttgig.

You are sort of correct here on McKinsey & Co. They appear to have been screwing up J&J for decades. Rumor is that back when BillyW was in charge he couldn't wipe his butt without consulting with them.
