Opioids for post-op pain mangement

    It's incredible how inferior opioids are for post-op pain management when compared with OTC Aleve. I was in excruciating pain using norcos. That same pain was completely controlled when I switched to OTC Aleve (2q 12h prn). It was a night and day difference.

    Oxy is overrated. Dilaudid of course manages pain but we can only give it for 3 days typically bc patients fall in love with it instantly.
    Tylenol, cryo cuffs, Toradol work just fine.
    The human brain loves the opiate buzz. I can't imagine that type of bonus money being offered by Purdue. As a former sales rep for GE Healthcare and J&J, I can see folks looking the other way, justifying it etc.
