Well, I appreciate the house I bought in my 20s from working in this god-awful industry, as a young, naive sales professional in pharmaceuticals (Pfizer).

Looking back, however, it was so cringy.

Those of you still in it, need to grow up. You are missing out on professional opportunities by being around pathetic simple-minded people that are prevalent in this industry. You will never grow as a person and you will never reach your economic potential being in this industry.

What industry are you in now?

There are lots of testimonials from people on these forums who found a better way. But they never say why or what it is exactly

There are tons of better opportunities, and it rarely, if ever, matter what industry you are in.

I know that the bigger the company, the worse it is for top performers. Bad sales people love bigger companies because bigger companies have less accountability and they can hide. Stick with that if you are lazy.

If you are a top performer, just find a smaller company (not public traded), with intelligent people. Typically, you can find this through their educational backgrounds (see Linked In).

Work for people with advanced degrees that are in leadership positions. These are companies that value intelligence and ambition.

Stay away from companies that hire high school graduates for there sales jobs. That is a bad place to be, because they are not as sophisticated in their approach to business or life (not trying to know those that "only" have high school education, but its quite true).

I just don't run into a lot of people with limited education that really can carry on a meaningful conversation or have insight that is truly helpful. These people are very basic in their approach, and generally don't try to expand their knowledge, instead relying on TV and other weaker forms of media for their information.

Ultimately, the wisest in our world are those that are in low stress situations, with minimal travel, as well.

C'mon man, admit it, you aren't cut out for pharma sales.
