Biologics base pay adjustments

    Does anyone know if there will be any pay adjustments for reps in resp bio this year? Outside of the small annual raise of course.

    I thought I remembered hearing something about the possibility last year for this spring?

    Especially since some of us promoted into these roles are not making anything close to new reps coming in.

    Seems like a better option than jumping ship, but if you have to leave then you have to leave.

    You’ll have to leave to get a significant pay increase. The longer you stay cruising along at 2 or if you’re lucky 3 percent increases, the further you fall behind your peers that move around. Hoping you’ll get an adjustment is like hoping you’ll win the lottery and hope is not a strategy.

    You may think the trade off of staying put is stability and job security. Don’t let yourself believe this is true because it’s not. Especially if you can’t check any DEI boxes.

    When you jump, do whatever you can to get into oncology. It’s the only specialty therapeutic area. Anything that calls itself specialty isn’t. After a year or two recruiters will blow up your LinkedIn offering salaries you can’t even imagine. And the smaller the company the better the pay - and culture.

    What you bring to the table is literally zero compared to many other reps out there. What many of you "specialty" reps excel at is kissing ass. I have seen people promoted that were marginal at best (and no, I'm not a rep) but boy could they stick their noses way up the hiring mgr's ass as well as the CBD. This goes for ONC as well. Access is terrible and you sit in cafeteria's waiting to see someone you can say "hi" to and then record it as a call.
    Yeah, it takes all kinds of talent to fudge the system. Just be happy you get paid what you do. Pretty soon, AI will replace all of us.

    Oncology is full of managers that fit this description, particularly in one of the regions in the eastern part of the country. Not sure AI replaces reps however. While access is terrible oncology reps still generate more than enough growth to justify our expense.

    yes they did benchmarking. It was not to bring YOUR salary up. Just to make sure MRP was on par with the industry for biologics. You were promoted as part of an experiment. They actively are trying to evaluate if promoting inexperienced reps would yield a better return than paying 50k more for tenured reps. They know you are paid well less than the external hires, that’s the whole point.

    Also, quit whining.. most of you got a 20k-30k raise. That was more than enough for you to take the job but now that you see other people got more it’s not good enough anymore

    I left the biologics team and got a huge raise. Az doesn't pay shit compared to the competition.

    You know on one hand I would agree with you, but when you're out here doing the same work knowing people are being hired in getting 30-50K more base than you with about the same sales experience it feels a bit unfair. Gaining the extra experience is certainly a plus but at the end of the day you should be paid for the job.

    That's like saying it's ok for a woman to take a promotion at a 20-30k raise and that she should be happy. Although her male counterpart with the same experience is making 20-30k more. At what point does the role pay what the ROLE pays? I get there will probably always be a little difference due to market conditions. But it shouldn't be that easy to jump ship and grab a 40k raise overnight.
