Ok. ok. ok. My gut tells me that the merger may not produce many casualties. Both businesses are strong and profitable so there won't be a need to lay employees off. But what about the enormous pay rates for the Synthes Trauma,Synthes Spine & Depuy Spine reps?

Will JNJ reduce pay, commissions, territory sizes?
What will become of the senior Synthes trauma reps that are in their mid-late 40's that are used to $400k salaries like Pferdeherteayiruei (I can't f*cking spell his name) and Dirty Daley?

I can't image that JNJ will allow the grunts to make more than the managers/execs.

What will these guys do when their salaries are cut in half and possibly laid off? What in the world would E. Daley do?

This is what they should do: Thank God for the good years that they had making that kind of money because less than 1% of the people in this country make that and many of them work equally hard or harder. Hopefully, these people saved some money aside for the time that they may have to take a cut in pay or lost the job. Hopefully, the lived below their means if they have to adjust to their new paychecks.

Stop calling this a merger because it isn't. Synthes was bought out. Wyss sold out. J&J is not changing its name to Synthes. A merger is when two equals or near equals come together. Many times they combine names like Glaxo Smith Kline or they choose a new name like Covidian. This was stricky a sellout or a buyout depending on how you look at it but definitely not a merger.

    Hey Stricky

What is it when the guy that runs the small company becomes the guy that runs all of the ortho division of the big company and the small company becomes the big company's ortho line and the big company goes from dist to direct? I understand who bought who but if you take me on as a player and I become your coach there is a different than normal situation there. Synthes did not have to sell, they did so under understood and agreed upon terms.

Boom goes the dynamite! Well said. Still at the very least they will prob knock our commissions down to 10-11%. Could b worse.

It's all downhill from here. Sorry, I agree with the earlier poster, this is a buyout.

And at 10-11% you will be making 2-7% more in commissions than your new DePuy counterparts. For a year or so, at least. Then they'll transition you down to our dismal new commission structure.

How about Regional Managers, or AVPs?? However they would need positions with little to no interaction with the customer.

Most RM's should have a ankle bracelet and mandatory 8am-5pm video monitoring. Then KC could watch them while they do nothing. While at his cigar club. Zing!

    Bunch of fucking losers.

You mean no lay-offs as of yet... Biomaterials & Spine can look forward to such. To the novice who write that a few billion $ of the acquisition price is covered by Synthes fixed infrastructure, get a clue. Synthes doesn't own high rises anywhere, only some select bldgs around the world that don't come anywhere near a few billion $ in their book value.

My guess would by that Wyss owns the buildings and leases them to Synthes.

I believe the individual you're referencing might also have mentioned inventory and other assets, such as Synthes small # of corporate jets (which will quickly disappear once the acquisition is fully complete). No way all of those assets and the buildings, whether owned by Synthes or not, amount to a few Billion $. I think the secretarial typing pool (which accounts for 98% of the workforce here) like to think that they're safe & comfortable where their jobs are concerned, let alone their salaries. LOL. Some personnel are in for a shock.

FYI, most DePuy trauma reps were making 12%-13%

obviously everyone on this post is a bottom feeder posing as a real Sales Consulant it's just a matter of time before you are found out as frauds and the company sends you packing. If you were working you would have no trouble making the type of money that those who do work make. I'd also judge by your comments you people are obviously Obama supporters and were probably part of the Occupy Wall Street crowd ranting against those productive members of society that are actually doing something with their lives unlike this useless group or malcontents.

No the world will continue on and as always - there will be people like you and then there will be people like us who get paid for performance.

Stop complaining and start doing what the company is paying for and no one will figure that you are stealing from the company.

"and no one will figure that you are stealing from the company."

Wow, a self-admitted thief who is obviously proud of it. Sure, gain the whole world and forfeit your soul. Brilliant. Your children will be proud.

This is the most infuriating thing I've ever heard anyone say. First of all, I work for competitor, I make that kind of money. I know exactly what it takes to build a business from nothing, work my ass off, and form the kinds of relationships it takes to be successful on that level as an orthopedic rep. I also know the sacrifice that it takes to generate those kinds numbers month by month, year after year. I sincerely hope you are not a rep... we are all governed by the same rules, and face the same challenges. You should applaud anyone in your company that have achieved that level of success and more importantly model yourself and your business after theirs. Then maybe you can be part of the 1%... then maybe you will thank god for not being a lazy socialist piece of shit who feels entitled to what others have earned.... just a thought

Well put. Sadly, there are far too many who just don't get it - and I don't believe it's just a generational thing. It runs from the blue-blood union socialists to the lazy-assed Occupiers. Who is John Galt?
