Isn't 'Mobic' an Apache word for placebo?

Mobic is already generic (in market exclusivity right now). There will be generic competition around March of 2006. That is why we will not promote it. Be glad that you have it to gain access to sample only clinics. You can make way more bonus on Spiriva & Micardis growth so focus on those.

[/ QUOTE ]Does that mean more speaker's program $ for pretend Micardis restaurant programs? Why don't you just mail the Drs a check directly, instead of pretending that they are educating their peers at an expensive restaurant? Then we could all be home with our families/friends and not have to spend 2-3 nites a week eating with a bunch of ungrateful, obnoxious drs who just want a free meal and booze, and a chance to hit on young reps or entertain their wives/girlfriends on BI's dime. Yes they all work in the office...

Ventiv has been promoting Mobic for almost 6mos now

why would they contract 450 people to sell a drug that is going generic in 3 months??

It goes generic in 3mos, which means that in March ONE company will be able to offer a generic meloxicam. This will have very little influence on price and branded Mobic will still be used (ecspeically because they have samples). There will only be one generic compound available for 6 mos. After that (around Sep/Oct) there will be many generic companies producing meloxicam. This is when the price will drop significantly and branded Mobic will lose lots of market share

gotcha- use the contract reps for a few months and then cut them loose when generic happens- no severence to pay, makes sense
