This was on an internal website called "John's Blog". It would be a redbook violation to pass it along. As upset as I am, I will not let my integrity go. To do so would be to become like them, Lilly Management.

You need to quantify "MASSIVE". Remember Sidney worked for only a dollar 7 or 8 years ago. Lilly management has a different mindset when it comes to measures. I believe Sidney made over $6 million the year he only worked for a $1. $1 in salary + $6 million in bonus, stocks, etc.

Sadly, this should come as a surprise to nobody; you can't spell the Sunking/ Idiot Savant of the Mountain's name without the letters "L-I-E".

Actually I believe John made this comment in Q4 of 2008, but either way I remember it well. He then chastized us saying how silly it was to believe the rumors that massive layoffs were being planned. As usual, the rumors around here are more trustworthy than the management teams. Of course, then again keeping their plans a secret is their only strategy for keeping the moral here from plummeting. I wonder what the next FIPNET milestone is going to be. Can we say plant closure or sale, hmmmmmmmm.

Tippecanoe Labs has been up for sale for some time now. So far, no buyers! Closure is a possibility but the environmental liabilities would be too large of an expense. Which other plants could close or be sold? Something in Puerto Rico? Europe? FIPNET for the uninitiated, is, "Fully Integrated Pharmaceutical Network" - as opposed to SIPNET "Somewhat Integrated Pharmaceutical Network" - or NIPNET "Nonsensical Integrated Pharmaceutical Network" ....

Well if Lilly was so good, Roche would have been all over Lilly when the stock price tanked. Maybe the price did not tank far enough...yet...
