Going on a road to nowhere because the current leadership has no concrete direction, they just brag they know how to get to $10 billion by 2020. I guarantee you Dr. Gerberding, Todd Nichols and all of the DCO's will be long gone before then. Just like Margie McGlynn made all of these big predictions about expanding the salesforce and huge sales for GARDASIL before she ran off with her golden parachute after only 3 years as president of vaccines.

The division is small now, but it could go smaller if we just called on peds, FPs, hospitals, and pharmacies (where the $$ is). Leave the smaller business to MVCC. Territories would be bigger, but at least we'd be spending our time in places that can and want to vaccinate, more job satisfaction and less BS.

The only way they will hit it will be by super major price increases. The real talent of MVD was forced out and now the un-talent of MVID is on display front and center.

The road to nowhere is a good one. I had forgotten about the bridge to nowhere. That kind of describes us these days because we are going nowhere.

No need for sales force. The plan is to use physician distributors for private and ramped up PO contracts. Layoff for all sales levels with 20% left. All pharmacist will vacillate adults and no need to call on pharmacist as all vaccines will be under national contracts and incented by chain pharmacy. Huge cost savings!

This sounds right to me. Still too many of us chasing small business - we could get the same results (probably even better) with this plan.

And Merck will become the premier vaccine company....wasn't that Gilmartin's prophecy? What effective leadership Merck enjoys.

That might have been Gilmartin's hopes or thoughts but that was all dashed when Clarke or whoever got rid of MVD leadership and put in their place a puppet regime called MVID who only sold tablets and did not sell them all that well and are selling vaccines even worse.
