Sure, it's positive for the neph sales force!
It's positively the lamest gig going.
Those in the sales force that can collect a paycheck, not expect bonus because the quotas are too high, be thankful that Watson is continually losing accounts because" you can't do business on price alone", and still be happy are the ones that can stay on with Watson.
They know the game. They really don't work, the managers don't work, the CAMS and RAMS don't work. Everyone is in on it!!!!
If you can do this, you will do great. Hell, you may even get Mike's job one day!

Re: Neph sales position
Every job at every pharmaceutical job sucks, right? Well, as far as Watson goes ... the Nephrology side seems to be the place to be - but even they've got some serious issues (like a drug about to go off patent & nothing else to sell!) If you're going to work at Watson - work for Nephrology. If you want a wonder-drug with huge marketing dollars behind it and doctors waiting in line to get it ... you're looking in the wrong place. Go sell Vioxx.

Re: Neph sales position
Watson is having a tough time getting Nephrology positions filled. Those who apply should ask a lot of questions. Nothing unusual there, but they had better be sure they get hones answers.

EPOGEN, dumbass. If you don't even know which product Watson Nephrology sells, you're not likely to either work for any division at Watson or ever work in our Nephrology department. (PS - That Nephrology product currently generates the vast majority - 70-80% - of the branded revenue.)

And, if you all remember, this post started because someone asked about a Nephrology position. Please read ALL the posts, and you will see there is a fox in the hen house and you all believed the posts were true. Shut up, get a grip, cash your paycheck and be glad you have that paycheck. Watson ain't great but it is better than the unemployment line.
Been there, done that. NG.

Fist let me tell you that Watson IS NOT the market leader in the iron market- Ferrlecit is the product that Watson Nephrology promotes and it is not the market leader - Venofer is . So my friend when you go off an insult some one who was merely inquiring on the product -- next time simply answer the question if you know the answer! All you did was show your INCOMPETENCE , IGNORANCE and DELUSION OF GRANDEUR-- something that is very prevelent at Watson.

Vanofer is #1:
American Regent's flagship iron-based product, Venofer ® (iron sucrose injection, USP) — launched in November 2000 — is the number one selling intravenous iron product in the United States and represents an important advance in the safe treatment of iron deficiency anemia in hemodialysis patients on erythropoietin therapy.
Watson is a wanna-be.

Re: Neph sales position
Is Venofer still #1 over Ferrlecit and if so, why? Is it close (their market share)? As an outsider, they look to be comparable products.

They are comparable products but Watson botched the market---at first Ferrlecit wa the market leader but Watson refused to lower price ----you know ----they were too good to lower their price ----results------they lost the market . It is no were close ----18-20% Ferrlect to about 72- 80% Venofer---there is still a small amout of irondextran bein used

Re: Neph sales position
Thanks for the input. What a dumbass move for Watson. I worked for a company that just would not lower their price and ended up getting its ass kicked in not too long of a time and is still getting its ass kicked even though the product is not inferior to the competition (and actually was #1 for a while). Are you exaggerating or is it really 75-80% market share for Venofer and 20% or less for Ferrlecit? I would have thought it was like 60% vs. 40%. How much more does Ferrlecit cost than Venofer? Is the company good about its goals since Ferrlecit is getting beat up and you are still able to make some bonus money on it or are you Nephrology reps getting the shaft on this?

Nope -- I'm not lying -------market share for Ferrlecit is around 20%.--They are going to lose more because around 3-4 years ago they stopped all studies---Venofer people kept on with studies and now have the inication for CKD patients in addition to dialysis patients .-- CKD is a huge market,----So the geniuses at Watson have lost all around------They are all clueless, incompetent bunch

Re: Neph sales position
Man, that is horrible. Watson stopped doing its studies while the competition went forward? Gee, I wonder why Ferrlecit is sinking in the tank? That is not fair to you Nephrology reps out there trying to make a living. What a bunch of buttwipes
making these decisions above you that you then have to deal with. What is the average Nephrology rep making for bonus this year? Most of the threads say that Nephrology is the best division to be at within Watson. But, how can that be if you guys have to deal with crap like having your studies stopped while the competitor runs free with their information. Is there anyone out there that still enjoys sellin Ferrelecit? Anyone who makes another bonus on it?

Re: Neph sales position
My bonus has been so-so. Pretty average compared to other reps in the division I suppose. Not to sound all high and mighty but I still think this is the best division within the company, although mistakes have definately been made, that's for sure. Anyone else in the division have thoughts on how they feel their bonus has been and where this division is headed?
