The diabetes care business is a commodity with no top line sales growth. The sale of the business makes sense.

My concern is what happens to the Meter reps - care to look at what happend at Accu-Chek under very similar circumstances? Pump reps kept on and Meter Reps let go - just saying...may want to get your resumes in order...

They didn't say they already had a buyer.

Sure does and so does staying home collecting my paycheck till the severance comes.

I think it's Medtronic too.. That email from GV pretty much sums up where we stand in the launch of this new link meter. No where.

MM also said.. We have interested buyers.. That means its been in the works for awhile. My guess Siam announcement will come by June 1st.

Actually that is not true. AC only retained a handful of their pump reps. The majority of their sales force is former meter reps.

Roche is buying only because they want to get the talented and world class performer JT back. He alone would pay for the purchase price.

Sorry to disagree but the most recent realignment saw the displacement of nearly 30% of the meter reps and zero of the pump reps - there were a few Clinical Specialist, let go - when AC purchase DUSA a few years back there was a reduction in pump rep sales force, I think you have your facts mixed up. So Bayer rep be very concerned about your future...just saying....

They are desperate to unload this division, why else would a story 'leak'? Companies tend to 'leak' stories like this when they're desperate to unload it.

The fact is BGM is a commodity, where low price wins... And your products do not compete in a price sensitive market

But we have NO CODING meters! And Hematrocrit correction!!!!!

I don't care what anyone says, Bayer is a class act...to be so open and honest about it's intentions overall. Alan's efforts demonstrated that today via the video link to all Bayer employees.

Way to go Alan~!! Don't give up on our division. We need to be the last one's standing. Bayer has the best in class products and top sales force in the USA~!!

You are drinking the kool aid. Alan is good but Bayer's products are constantly riddled with issues, product hold orders, quality problems, etc. More so than the other top 4 companies. No one in the industry is surprised by the sale.

Alan is good??? WTF??? READ this everyone. Bayer would be very, very smart to be the first company to sale off its diabetes care business to highest bidder (sucker) it could find.

Other companies will follow in line sale the business while there is money to be made. They need it for the next big purchase.

how does severance look?

Bayer's diabetes products have so many quality issues AND they are 4rth in the market place in the US. They claim that they have better technology, but 4rth in the market place says otherwise (numbers don't lie).

Anyone who buys this company is doomed. Too many issues.

They also have hired on a bunch of weirdos/non-value adding people there in recent years. The only way to fix the company is to fire more than half it's employees.

What quality problems??? How many recalls has Abbott had over the past 5 years? 8? Lifescan too. And Accu-Chek and FreeStyle Lite both had the FDA alert regarding interfering substances. Since when has Bayer been "riddled" with quality problems?

Lets take a Vote??? Sanofi, Medtronic, Siemens?? Sanofi, cause they want to be the world leader in diabetes, Medtronic cause they too just went through a layoff of primary care reps to make room for us or Siemens who took our DCA 2000 and just bought the Mishawaka site in November... some of our strips are currently still being manufactured as of today.. The clock is ticking faster now since Mike Mathews has resigned..

Anyone have scoop on the latest? Hear deal to be signed by year end. Is it Panasonic?
