Jeff B. loved doing it. Still does. It's the power thing.

All have come and gone but made millions at the employees and stockholders expense.
The company is totally screwed up. The APAX consortium is there to do ONE thing. I want to stress that……ONE THING. Their sole objective: To lean out the company (massive layoffs, splitting up the company, selling off business unit(s), etc), artificially raise revenue and margins to simply sell the company in 3-5 years. APAX simply flips their holdings like real estate investors flip houses. NO DIFFERENT. This is all public information...just check out their annual reports, holdings and investment horizons.
Believe me when I say you DO NOT want to work for this company. If you want to try to make a quick buck and get out.....go for it. Some departments are better than others, but at the end of the day, none of the department heads have control. If you are looking for an honest company that has a management team with integrity and empowerment......please look elsewhere. The executives run everything out of fear and pure selfish greed. The incoming team will all be absent from KCI in another 3-4 years, how could they care in reality? They "walk the walk" with the employee base but in reality they have little control and talk out of both sides of their mouth. The majority of the employee base has no clue what is happening at the top. And the new executives are ultimately merely puppets. APAX controls it all. They are cut throat and care nothing about the customers, employees, culture or long-term outcomes. They invested in KCI with a single sided short-term horizon. It is really a crappy company which is a real bummer to say. In the earlier days, KCI was great but those days are long over as growth has dwindled to a crawl (LifeCell is the only golden child) as competition has entered the VAC space.
Want to argue? Ask yourself this? Ever wonder why they are selling off the Therapeutic Surfaces business and will ultimately put a large workforce across the globe out of work (over 1000 employees? This is the legacy business that has made KCI what it is today. Here’s a promise. You will unfortunately see 20-30% of the employee base be laid-off or sold off (like cattle) over the next 6 months. Mark my words. Pay attention to the facts……layoffs and more layoffs. More announcements of splitting business units, new executives, etc. Why do you think all the executives with Cathy B left? Writing is on the wall folks….like it or not. I did try to warn you.

Time to let this place go. It WAS a good company with many good people that really put a lot of after hours, holidays, and time away from family to build it. Watching inexperienced people come in, be celebrated because of just that- no knowledge, and now handed VAC business & relationships has been disgusting. We helped many patients from KT tables & beds to those first VACs that we had to beg to place, hours spent placing and constant inservicing, & completing a book of paperwork to get patient home! Hard work but good times. Goodbye Kinetic Concepts!!!!

Re: " the future"
Amen to that brother! You are so RIGHT ON! I had my territory for well over 5 1/2 years, had great relationships, worked many hours and sacrificed much for the company.I was 100% and over each year. I gave it my all. What is my reward? They gave my entire territory to a young guy who just got out of training. I got laid off and kicked in the teeth. They let go of every seasoned and experienced rep I know. KCI as we all knew it is gone.

Unemployment here I come. Severance is not involved. Got conformation today that my "application is accepted". Only has to be "disclosed" in many states. "Obama" money here I come. Sweet. Free money from the state and KCI, all for getting "canned" from a piece of shit company. I will however miss my dear field sales friends who are still being screwed, and a few who I have spoken with/worked with, via phone on the corporate billing/PFS/support center side. The rest of senior management are for the most part, liars and brown nosers. The Acute reps can have it, as is circles the toilet. Have fun with MIA VAC's from SNF's, "credit holds", "unbilled Medicade/Medi-Cal", POHD signitures from trailer trash in the desert, and so on , and so on........time to relax and enjoy life w/o KCI bullshit!

And OMG those were great times! Hard work yes but work that I am proud of to this day. Dr Jim provided so many of us with what could only be described as one of the best jobs in this country. I was so proud of what we did, but humbled too. I always hoped that KCI was going to be the place that I retired from. I even thought that they would have to drag me out kicking and screaming too. I was here from 1995 ~ 2012, did it all and then some.
THAT KCI is just part of medical device history now. Just like the integrity, ethics and pride that were the backbone of that original organization. It was a blessing in disquise that they got rid of me, I dont have BS gene required to execute the current plan. I cant even say that I would recommend KCI's NPWT device any other. Hell, even the rock stars from "corporate" couldnt sell that to CMS.
Too bad Dr Jim didnt take the KCI with him as part of the deal
RIP KCI, we sure do miss you
