Posting on Indeed.com. Is that floating rep for open territories? The description was lacking.

Why cant people give mature answers. Aren't we all in this together. Other reps are not the enemy

The reply answered the question as directly as possible. What's immature about that? If more info was wanted, the question should have been posed differently.

Ok could you please tell me a little more about the position? Is it desirable…. do people usually last and get a permanent position? Anything would be helpful. Thank you

well..its pharmaceutical sales so that pretty much explains it. You're a floater so you go where is needed. "is it desirable"..hm well that depends. desirable vs. what? if you are young and looking to get in the industry I highly suggest you choose something else to sell. Medical isn't what it once was. Incomes are not what you think. If you need a job and have nothing but 10 years pharma experience then clearly you won't get any other sales job except a pharma job. What are you career goals?

If you are money motivated you can make as much now and WAY years to come doing B2B. which would be selling technology, software, or services. You can work your way up from an account executive to a national account executive. I have friends who are in b2b who started when i did in pharma 7 years ago and they make 150-200k. They also can entertain clients outside of the office. Only downside is b2b isn't as "sexy" as selling a drug. Look up top 10 software companies and apply to those. Go get a B2B job. Its the fastest route to six figures. Being a Regional sales rep at boehringer is the fastest route to stay under 100k for many many years and thats very serious. But, if you go with pharma look on the bright side every 85,000 miles you get a new ford fusion at boehringer.

Also, you work 10-2 and can train for marathons in pharma.

Thank you for a very comprehensive answer. I have more than 7 years pharma experience fortunately or unfortunately

In that sense then interview for the job, in a sense of job security you won't find the same at any other pharma company because we have a ton of product launches happening and coming. only downside to working here is the low pay. I would have already left but there is so many new products coming. Best of luck

It is a good entry level job. Leave after 2 years. Anyone that stays beyond that is a loser. BI is the KMart of pharma.

True,, get hired at out of school, car, good pay, easy life...you buds are in some cube making cold calls with a mgr. breathing down their necks and hoping to hit quota to stick around for another qurater at 30K base and a little bonus..You got it made! ..fast forward 6-7 years..you still driving the sexy Chevy company car, salary jacked up 2% each year, bonus the same if not less and another week or so of vacaction time added, not bad for getting paid to stand in hallways. Your buddy graduated from the cube..now pulling down serious money (For serious responsibility of closing real deals, requiring real work and thought) Traded in the old Jetta for nicer German ride...his wife's got a better boob job, and he's talking of what next career move is going to be...

Why do outsiders that think pharma is bad spend SO MUCH TIME on Cafepharma? Are they really people that are bitter because they were not hired? Truly successful people in other careers are not on here.

kid, think about it, people who are on here asking questions are not doing it for pure curiosity, no way. Do not deny there are paid creepers haunting these threads trying to put together some POS marketing report for a client, to prove their worth. They are the heavy traffic, and it's pharma dirtiest little secret. They will never admit it.
