That's the problem. Zimmer has no bench because so many good people have left or been driven out. The CEO is still there because the board has no good options for a replacement.
I don't care who it is, but the next CEO needs to care about people and culture. The current CEO has ZERO interest in either.
To change direction for the good it absolutely MUST be someone who GETS "Sales" rather than despising "Sales". JC may not be the one for the job, but you are right that there's just not a bench of internal prospects anymore. It will likely be someone from the outside, which may mean further disruption for a period of time. Pretty sad that a $4.5/5billion company has nobody in the bullpen.
