Is anterior hip replacement surgery better than posterior? Who would you have operate on you if you could choose anyone in the US?

Marius Smith-Peterson MD in Boston. He does the anterior approach

Anterior is more prone to intra op femoral fx but provides more dislocation insurance. A well-done abductor-sparing mini-posterior with a capsular repair offers much of the same insurance with little risk of breaking something. I would want the posterior imho.....

I'd got Anterior IF you can find a surgeon who has done a couple hundred and who seems to have been well trained.

Obviously someone like Joel Matta in L.A. would be good, otherwise you could check out Medacta's web site as they seem to be the company that trains docs best.

Even then I would go for someone who seems grooved in.

A great surgeon will get you a great result with any approach.

I do believe anterior is best all other things being equal, but it's all down to who's doing the doing......

    Where are you located?

Zimmer's Anterior THA docs are dangerous. The training is brutal and is jeopardizing patients. This is going to be 2 incision all over again.
