Is there any logical reason to believe Zimmer trauma will ever make a push for a substantially larger share in the market? Aside from price, what's Zimmer's advantages over market leaders? How do you compensate for having a weak extremity line?

Think of it this way. How much trauma products will you have to sell before you make up for hiring and entire sales force, putting them up at the Z for a month then paying them so sit home for months then closing the whole thing down???? How many $millions? And there was no corporate reprisal for any of the goof RSD's who botched the whole thing!!!
Simply ming blowing!!! How can you create such a disater and no one notices?!?!

Zimmer trauma will flourish if selling it becomes financially enticing for the full-line rep.

NO ONE is in a better position to pick off trauma cases than a full-line Zimmer rep. They already have the relationships. Many are already in the OR covering recon when trauma cases come through. How many recon reps have answered a pager for a doc in surgery when it's the ER calling about a consult for a fracture? Don't you think it would be nice for the doctor and the nurses to know then and there that a rep is already at the hospital and has the responsibility covered?

The Zimmer trauma line has a comprehensive selection of quality products. Nobody knows this because nobody else besides Zimmer corporate really cares. Too much time, risk, and logistical headache for that measly payout. If you want us to do battle with Synthes and Stryker, and if you want us to risk our reputation pushing Z trauma on our customers, make it worth our while.

I dont want to sell trauma after doing joints all day. Will never happen. Just ask Dave Blue if he sold Depuy Trauma when he had the full bag in Colorado? Answer...Lord NO, Hell NO.

Everybody makes money on trauma at Zimmer except the rep covering the case doing all the work

I don't want to ask the righteous Dave Blue anything. It doesn't matter what he preaches that he sold. He was kicked out of hospitals in CO. He doesn't matter. Worthless. Amen.

The wheels are coming off the cart....again. ZMH trauma shot their wad over the last 2 years overpaying for an X-fix system they can't get any play with and hiring industry retreads they can't afford to pay. Now everything's in shut down mode as they reload upstream clowns ....again.

Trauma commissions are not worth the time of the full-line rep, however they are the ones best situated for selling Zimmer trauma.

Good products, good reps, poor incentives.

Everything is in shut down mode due to struggling biz across the board. Mgmt clowns are attempting to stop the bleeding by cutting costs and expenses rather than drive sales. Same story every year, but it seems to be getting earlier and earlier every year that they put the "freeze" on everything. Speculation around other Warsaw competitors is that the key mgmt team (you k ow which top 2 guys) is finally on the way out. Hopefully new leadership will be more like old leadership and a fault "get" Sales, rather than resent Sales.

He is now with Conventus Orthopedics. He has a very impressive bio under leadership. If he is so accomplished, why wasn't he successful here at the big Z?

Zimmer management is just dysfunctional. It just doesn't work. The direct trauma force turned into a farce. Millions of $'s spent recruiting and training. Everything ready to go and what happened? The RSD's NEVER successfully communicated the transition to the distributors and when they found out they were losing accounts, they went nuts. And who was in charge of the whole deal? Martha Shadan who had no trauma or ortho experience. Watching her speak at the NTM in Orlando was embarrassing. Then David Blue. Finally, and this is the crucial part, Zimmer made Scott Schwartz the head of sales. A former RSD. All he did was cover his pals (Walma, Dutka, etc.) and shift blame to everybody else. Schwartz covered the whole deal up. The RSD's were primarily responsible for hiring the direct sales force. Even with Gallup and multiple interviews, a significant number of hires were disasters. The whole deal was dead before Day 1. With no leadership, no direction and no infrastructure even great sales people cant sell a slightly above average product
