    posted from the Merck site.

"The executive decision to force the reps to spend the majority of their time begging for Zostavax ( PFE insert Adult P13 ) doses for the last 3 ( PFE insert 2 ) years was a complete failure. If they would have left reps calling on pediatrics and a group calling on primary care, they wouldn't have to keep reorganizing every 3 to 4 years. We were multi specialty in name only. Pediatrics and hospitals were barely called on. Now that we ( PFE insert "they" ) have a couple new pediatric vaccines coming and we spent very little time in pediatrics for the last few years, leadership is now slowly reacting to the fact that we now need to focus back on pediatrics which is the bulk of our business."

Pfizer = Greedy Morons who DO NOT understand the vaccine marketplace. Jim Connoly, you must be having a laugh.

Pfizer once had a marvelous hospital sales force. Then they lost all their hospital products, shut down their ABX R&D, and the finest left.

Pfizer ignored Cardiologist after Lipitor and now are back in with Eliquis. They jerked around Urologist for years and Cialis ate their lunch. They ignored OBGYNs for years and now have a Women's Health division with a small footprint that is going to launch a new product (good luck with that). Why should Vaccines be any different. It's one pediatric vaccine that is "mandated" to be used and is part of the schedule. Are there any other vaccines in the pipeline for Pediatric use that I'm unaware of that will be launched soon? It seems to me that the growth is in the adult marketplace. As long as it's sole source you really have nothing to worry about in Peds. Once another player gets into the mix - good luck. We pissed off the Peds so much (Wyeth and Pfizer) with price increases, that the first chance they get to buy from someone else they will. We didn't make any friends with Prevnar pricing. Wyeth tried pricing Flumist like Prevnar (where there was an alternative) and look what happened! You can only pull pricing bullish*t when you're the only game in town.

I'll second that one. Jim never sold but he understood selling vaccines. Pfizer doesn't, it's a joke.
