I agree with the above post.

I have worked and been successful for two major implant mfg over last 13 years. I left each time b/c the managers kept shooting holes in the bottom of the boat to let the water out - experienced people - you know the drill, inexperienced and desperate/rookies won't get it no matter how you explain it - so save me your mindless sarcasm - thank you.

Imagine calling on an established book of customers built over time and selling and earning comm on everything else they buy in the operation BUT fixtures, abutments, etc (I'd bury and never talk about Camlog).

Sweet. Who do I call at Schein ? Let's Do This.

Now that Nobel is being bought by Danaher, do you think Nobel can hold the high line? Ask yourself, does the human body know the difference between a $100 or a $400 dollar titanium implant? The answer is "No". How long can you convince a dentist to keep purchasing $400 implants, not much longer. These days are going and gone. Henry Schein Surgical Solutions has a better opportunity, sell implants, regen and everything a specialist buys, serve all of their needs, not just a small segment. The specialist market is evolving and the days of surviving on an implant system that in today's market is just a commodity now are coming to an end. Any Henry Schein rep can direct you to the specialty division. I do know there are openings in Raleigh, Minniapolis,(now) New Orleans and North Florida (2015).

Maybe the dumbest post ever put on this site. And that is saying something. You clearly don't understand the dental implant market if you don't think specialists will continue to pay $400 for implants. And I work for a "value" implant company. Fear of losing referrals is what drives the $400 implant market.

The sales force is demoralized by its national sales manager. The have three very well qualified regional managers who ALL had exceptional success at Straumann, Nobel and Zimmer. Yet the national sales manager having NO implant sales experience demands numbers from a GP implant system with never a podium presentation at AP,AO, or AAOMS in its commercially available history....since 1998. Questions? Seconds anyone? Yeah!! That's right the best get stuck listening to a boss dictate policy having no historical knowledge of the dental implant market.
Kind of resembles the Obama Admn on critics. Except this is capital enterprise.
If you suggest, criticize or state clinical user facts you become a SSC persona non grata. That's how you are treated in this division. You get put on a a plan the second one of your three buckets drops. Buckets are Merch, Camlog, Regen..ACE / Surgical products.
    Another issue of importance.
HS has co sponsored a guided symposium WITH Bio Horizons in 12 or more cites where Camlog has a decent GP market presence. Questions? Yeah! I'm sure we are all waiting for that shoe to drop. God they are stupid! Two implants priced roughly the same competing against each other; one GP branded the other "paid for whore" podium clinically significant. They ALL integrate!

HS senior managment needs to remove the national sales manager place one of the three regionals in charge and split the country. Give the targeted markets SSC all the OS and Perio's accounts. Remove the FSC from the account and regional HS managers (who dont know jack about selling to specialists)
Drive the market with better Regen than ACE. HS only owns 49% (stupid deal from day one regardless of the revenue) Find surgical products the docs want and Bundle the implant systems along with whatever that account asks for.

Quite simply give your customer what they want! Until that happens all you SSC's will never be that "total solution"

I like how you think, Anon. I don't know who you are, but from the sounds of your post, you are quite knowledgeable about that division.

Instead of taking the FSCs and regional Schein Center managers out of the equation, why don't they give BACK all the accounts to the FSCs and regional centers, make the SSC a TRUE specialty rep where the red carpet is rolled out to them in ANY account (specialist or generalist) and utilize the knowledge base of all the talented SSCs they currently have in place? These folks are technical sales people; they know dental implants, they know surgery, they know bone grafting and they know the surgeon.

What I just stated makes the case that the SSCs' leader should not be who it is; the national sales manager doesn't know this realm and will continue to drive away all of the unbelievable talent this division has had the PRIVILEGE of hiring and acquiring over the course of the last few years. From what I understand, each SSC was hired or acquired (from Camlog) under the guise that their compensation, experience and opportunity would exceed that from which they came. And from what I also understand, in almost every case this has been untrue...

The SSC cannot be the total solution, will not be the total solution and should not be the total solution. There are too many moving parts inside HS for this to be a total success. Any company who inadvertantly perpetuates internal competition - whether it be SSC vs. FSC, SSC vs. SSC (with neighboring Schein Centers), SSC vs. manufacturer representative (namely Ace and Biohorizons) - is setting that division up to fail.

Good luck, SSCs. It's a dog eat dog world out there; it's too bad you have to fight the good fight on the inside too.

And to date four of the best SSC's have left the division. All four left due to managements outright abrasive, deplorable and despicable communications. One was canned due to post on this board. Not even sure it was posted by the SSC?
Cowardly management never even called the SSC; had another regional manager perform the task. So your reference to unqualified is certainly warranted.

If HS wants to sell Implants they should liquidate and buy Straumann :)

Lol. He would do the job for a buck all he cares about is the title. Bergman is already on to him, he screwed up on a interview, the candidate knew Bergman.

Role pays weak, poor leadership, and the HS name is selling angle for RM. Feel bad for the RMs tough sell on this plan with this egos on top. How can national sales manager, manage what they haven't sold?
