Why would you make up a lie like that? If the webcam went on, you would know it because of the light. Immediately following this you would receive a large bag of money delivered to your door to avoid the company being plastered all over the news for invasion of privacy. Please tell me what the company would gain out of using the webcam to spy? Who exactly would be watching the video? From what location? I'd love to know "the facts".

It seems that employee monitoring has become a more and more popular topic. For those who want to monitor employee's PC and Internet usage, I strongly recommend SurveilStar which can monitor and record all the PC and web activities as well as create flexible policies to control or restrain their access.

This is not a lie. You are correct once the light goes on you can be watched by the company. You seem to think that "employees" are a protected class... they are not! In fact, read the the white box when you log on your computer each day its clear on the expression of rights. By montioring employees the company gains by dismissing those who stay at home too much.. or use their company computer for other means. IT by standard practice monitors "buzz words" and web sites not allowed under Bayer policy. You have no privacy once you open up their computer... they owe you and it. Wise up!

You are correct that the company can use the computer to track internet usage, etc for any employee. However, they cannot use the camera. Keep the lies/exaggerations coming.

Ok.. "big thinker" then why was the camera installed? You might answer because it looks good but you would be wrong. You are an "at will" employee with no rights under most provisions. They can and will use the camera and any other means to protect their interest when you open up their computer or blackberry .. you agree to have your emails, phone calls and texts monitored by the company. You are indeed a fool!

This post says it all. What is up with the new crop or reps we are bringing on, how many more naive fools are there out there to swoop up and get to drink the German kool aid? I thought Bayer was dead and WHC in particular keeps hiring these cast offs from big pharma, are people really that dumb or is Bayer that desperate and in need of more cult members? Both seem odd. The micro managing and the monitoring of the computers and ankle bracelet blackberry's was the last straw for me, throw on the manager who just could not get control of reality and you have current day Bayer, a clown festival of re run has beens and corporate puppet show with no silver lining. Who the fuck would come work here?????

Bayer monitors all computer usage, whether you're signed on to the Bayer Intranet or not. The managers get reports on your web sites visited that they have to sign off on. I've seen mine.

Don't be surprised - you're using their computer and they are trying to make sure that we're not web surfing during the day while we're supposed to be working (or visiting porn sites, etc.). If they want to get rid of us, this is just another tool that they can use - we are at will employees.

It sucks, but it's true - be careful.

The camera is there for net meetings. By the way, the camera was not installed. Just like 80% of the computers sold today, this model is equipped with a standard camera. You still have not answered my questions. Has anyone seen the green light? Who would be looking at the video and from what location? Why does c3i not have access to our computers?

And the main question to think about. What would they gain from using it, and would there be easier ways to obtain information without lawsuits.

If you're worried, just put a piece of dark tape over the camera - problem solved.

In a company we cannot deny that there are some employees who are time theft, using working hours to unrelated to work activities. A company owner wants to secure their company from these actions that's why they engage to employee monitoring. But not all devices and tools have good effects when monitored one reason employees are against on these because it invades employee privacy. Not all monitoring has the same features there are secretly monitoring or spying, and keylogger these are just some example of an intrusive feature a monitoring has.
I find this blog that discusses information about what is an ethical monitoring. http://www.timedoctor.com/blog/2011/04/14/compare-screen-monitoring-software
It can help you give idea on how to monitor your employees without invading their privacy. If employees still disagree to use monitoring maybe they have something to hide from you that they don't want you to know.

I think Aobo keylogger works better for parental control not for employee monitoring according to its introduction on the official website ( http://www.keylogger-mac.com )and personal experience.
