Well, the announcement came on the same day that several other higher ups "chose to explore new career opportunities"...seems like it was a firing.

I think that the quality of Stryker Management has been on the downswing since John Brown departed. They lost sight of ethics (Recalls-FDA issues, then DOJ spankings) and quality sales leadership. When Ned Lipes left Ortho, the ship began to sink under Mogul. The same can be said of Instruments and Medical.

Some would say the end came when Stryker acquired Howmedica. Teamsters buying Tiffany's. John Brown was a great leader. It was TR on the west coast underneath him that destoyed a potentialy great opportunity in So. Cal. Just one example. How TR was allowed to run that operation for as long as he did was incredible. The guy was useless. He only got his job because there was no one else to promote with any longevity at Osteonics. He was a leftover from the recently dissolved distributorship. Sad times.

A guy in our region got the scoop the other day. Someone will post it sooner or later and it's a real jaw dropper.
Our sales force is going through enough with all the BS around a certain product, this doesn't help. I guess it's to much to ask for us to be allowed to sell without constant nonsense happening.

This hits the nail on the head. Add in a couple of AVP's who have hung around of too many years.

    Anyone know the truth here?

The truth is that Jim Brusseau was a great leader and absolutely adored by the Marketing Department and Sales Force. He was a proven leader and class act, often times being a game changer reps would call in to crack a tough account.
Jim left to pursue something else in his life he was equally passionate about. He had done it all in Sales as a rep in New Orleans, was an accomplished Regional Manager, and then came in house to run the Sales Force. The only thing left for him would have been Divisional President which he most likely turned down.
Jim is greatly missed, it was an honor to work with him.

This sums it up best. How many more times does the FDA and DOJ have to come in before heads roll. Is Ned still available?

He was generally despised by the sales force. The new guys are different, but none better (just absent really). Brusseau took over for a guy that most of the sales force really liked. It's been an interesting 5-6'years. I'll say this, this division is thought to be invincible........and that couldn't be further from the truth.
