Do you have to give them 2 weeks notice?

No, you don't have to, but it is considered good form, and you never know if you might come back looking for employment in the future. Sometimes they will just have you stop working at that point and pay you for the two weeks. If you are expected to work for that time, be considerate and do at least the minimum expected. Contract companies get paid for having the territories filled, so unless you have been a complete screw up it's unlikely that you would be let go immediately.

You should give the 2 weeks notice (fyi for the rest of us...company can give you notice in 15 minutes)

there is so much mis-information out there, and this is no exception. This company requires FOUR weeks notice or you will waive accrued vacation, and the two weeks they held back.

If you absolutely have to leave sooner, do it, but you will lose pay due to you.

    good luck

BS. It is employment at will. They can get rid of you in 15 minutes, and vice versa. As the previous poster stated, it is good form to leave with a sensible notice for goodwill reasons.

Whenever you resign, you will be treated with respect and be legally paid what is due to you.

Where do you find a four weeks notice policy? Our PTO policy states that upon termination you will be paid 30% of unused PTO time that you have accrued, subject to state and local law. There is no requirement in the policy for minimum notice if you resign. And what are you referring to when you say two weeks will be held back? You earn PTO on a monthly basis and you can borrow against the future, although if you terminate and have not accrued enough credit to cover what PTO you have used, you will owe it back.

If you resign on Sep. 23, you probably will not get paid your bonus for July, Aug, sep.
Why not turn in your notice on Oct. 1?
