Today is another example of Diedre's failed ideas

She started by placing the bottom 20% on PIPs resulting in terrible morale and even one rep committing suicide. That policy was dropped

She then decided to stop doing lunches. That policy was stopped after sales plummeted

She then decided that sales numbers couldn't be used to evaluate or incentivice reps.
This policy cannot be changed because she inexcusably insisted that the policy should be written into our CIA agreement with the government.

She then decided to test and assess the field reps 2 or 3 times a quarter. Then twice a year. Now once a year without assessments. Once again, another Diedre initiative being scaled back or discontinued because of negative consequences.

She also decided to take a hard line stance with one of the largest managed care organizations in the US resulting in millions in lost revenue

She created launch excellence teams. GSK has had one failed launch after another

She also created new roles: HAM,HSAM,CAM,CML, Business improvement specialists, ICT teams, pharmacy reps and more. People were encouraged to apply for these positions to widen their "breadth of experience".

Today those positions were eliminated or dramatically reduced.

How can someone with so many utter failures still have a job?

Give it a rest. We have heard enough of yourDC hate posts followed by your typical post of agreeing with yourself.

    You have a real sickness

Awesome and so true. Lets not discount the amount of pain and anxiety that this has created amongst people in the field. Many are not the same since these policies and will never recover.

GSK will never recover IMO. This restructuring will only plunge morale to new lows. My best guess is GSK gets gutted and sold off once Advair goes generic.

Abbas Hussain... Andrew's too much of a coward to face the horrible decision he made 5 years ago, so the head of US is now NOT reporting to the CEO and he makes his pawn Abbas go in to get rid of the pathetic excuse for the head of what was once a great organization.

If you were ever a part of her "team leadership" meetings you would understand why the organization is in a downward spiral! She ACTS like a TEAM PLAYER and throws the TEAMMATE word around while she stabs you in the back. She is pathetic and the people she has chosen to lead her team are monkeys ... the results speak the truth.

SOOO TRUE SHE IS ....WOW THE MOST AWESOME LEADER EVER.... ANDREW YOU MADE A GREAT SELECTION. YOU ARE A GENIUS.. AND LETS SEE... HOW IS THE US PERFORMANCE SINCE YOUR BIG SHAKEUP 5 YEARS AGO... ALL THE SENIOR LEADERS THAT EITHER LEFT ( that actually had experience and a track record of repeated success) OR WERE ENCOURAGED TO "RETIRE" OR MADE SURE THEY GOT A PACKAGE TO LEAVE &/OR JUST OUTRIGHT HATED HER LEADERSHIP ..LEFT

THE ANSWER IS ALL THE PEOPLE YOU ALLOWED HER TO PUT IN PLACE ARE HORRIBLE LEADERS... START WITH RESPIRATORY ... THE FLAGSHIP... WAS PUT IN THE HANDS OF A TOTALLY INCOMPETENT, CLUELESS, OUT OF TOUCH NARCISSISTIC LITTLE MAN... OH JORGE ... YOU EXCELL AT THE PETER PRINCIPLE... a concept in management theory in which the selection of a candidate for a position is based on the candidate's performance in his or her current role rather than on abilities relevant to the intended role.

JUST BECAUSE YOU WORKED IN MICRO BUSINESS UNITS AND TRAVELED AROUND THE WORLD AT GSK EXPENSE AND PUT ALL YOUR LITTLE FLAGS ON MAPS AT MEETINGS, SHOWING IN YOUR USUAL SELF SERVING, SELF PROMOTING WAY... HOW GREAT YOU ARE ... YOU ARE A FAILURE BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO RUN A BUSINESS AND MORE IMPORTANTLY HOW TO RELATE TO PEOPLE...

QUITE UNDERSTANDABLE WHY DD HAS SUPPORTED YOU.. YOU ARE A SPITTING IMAGE OF HER

WHAT AN ACCOMPLISHMENT. THIS SHOULD MAKE YOU BOTH SO PROUD

GSK's new Chairman of the Board comes from a company where his greatest achievements were seen in the successful spin offs of several divisions. GSK is in the process of divesting itself of its assets ie divisions. First it was the Oncology portfolio. Next will probably be the Respiratory portfolio and the Vaccine portfolio. The Consumer Health division may be the last to go. What about the CVMU division, you ask? What company would want it? The Corporate Integrity Agreement made it impossible for GSK to carry on as a company.

OP is right on. For the Trolls out there, I challenge you to name one single policy, initiative, idea, etc. that the almighty DC (reigning Queen of Lycoming College's BS program), has adopted during her nearly 6 year tenure at GSK that could possible be deemed a success. Sharpen your typing skills, Trolls...your Final Assessment begins NOW!

how about Diedres latest initiative: GSK will become more diverse.
Hiring and/or promoting people based on race, and gender regardless if they are the most qualified. Managers were told to redo their district COTs if they didn't have enough "diverse"
reps rated near the top of their districts. There is one individual who recently was promoted to RVP who was a rep for two years and then did a rotation in which they managed two reps for 6 months prior to being appointed to the RVP position. How can this person be the most qualified if they were never even a district manager.

Totally disgusting. If you are a white male you might as well be dead in this company. I've seen similar situations described above. Talent means nothing anymore and even worse it can no longer be measured because Patient First is so non transparent. Its a total cluster. One of the worse fiascos I have ever witnessed.

    Re: Diedre dismantled TRUE POST

Well put. Except that talent quit meaning anything at GSK many years ago. It is the same in other large pharma organizations too. Sad when I think back over the past 25 years at how much talent has left and the total incompetence that "replaced" them. And Patient First was DOA. Whoever heard of not incentivizing in some way a commercial sales force.

This assessment is quite accurate in most areas

Massive failures without any attempt at course correction. The hard line stance on payors and managed care cost a lot more than millions. A billion or more would be more accurate. And that doesn't include the "damage" from what is currently going on. Not to mention the tarnishing of GSK as a progressive pharma company. But in the end GSK has always been top heavy with senior management. Creating objectives for others to carry out in some lame attempt to justify their job. GSK didn't look at it's business, brand or image over the years. It tried to appease the government and perceptions of uneducated consumers by trying to do things that did not matter, killed morale, stopped accountability, and most important irritated providers and patients. The phrase "grow a pair" comes to mind but it's too late for that. That should have happened many years back. It amazes me that an organization this size and with the track record it had is in this horrible position. You HAVE to hold Executive AND Senior Management accountable. Many of those individual need to be let go too. They won't be the losers though as most have packages that pay them way more than they are worth and enough stock and options to probably retire for the remainder of two lifetimes. The government is also to blame for a lot of this ( including Obamacare which is a complete screw up and needs adjustment). The government has repeatedly attacked the pharmaceutical industry for years collecting massive fines turning it into a revenue stream for the government (along with the scumbags in the legal industry trying to make a quick buck). The financial system has/is under the same attack. Get rid of these fools in Washington and start exercising your right to vote like an educated person.

In the end GSK will never return to the premier company it once was. I am sad for everyone impacted by this. So many deserve a lot better than they are getting. GSK should try and take a introspective look at the organization and if they truly care about people, like the say they care about patients, do something original and positive to take care of these people.

Worst Fiascos????? You are a drama queen. Take a look at all the pharma downsizing over the last 5 years. This is nothing different from what we have already seen.

Gee, I wonder if posts 5 and 6, and then 12 and 13 were all written by the same person?
OK, OK, we GET it? You hate DD, her ethnicity, her college, her ideas….everything. Do you really have to write the same inane crap year after year, and then post a fake response within 8 minutes to make your point?

Yawn. I suppose I you'll soon be on us about going to EEOC, like hundreds of our colleagues have already done, eh?

Here's some free counseling for ya: I think you need a new partner. Its obvious that they aren't handling their business as well as you'd like ;-)

my astute manager has said she owns 100 pant suits, all identical to each other. This is a non-verbal clue as to just how inflexible she is. Therefore she would never admit her mistakes. No, worse, she would never recognize her mistakes.
