    Read this thread -

And if you really dig deep on this board, the question has been asked several times for many years.

Boeing is not the competition. Pfizer cut it and some others too.

Anyone who says they know is only guessing. Anyone who might know is not posting on this board

Hasn't happened yet. Will it? Your guess is as good as mine.

Pfizer, AZ, Merck, BMS. They've all fine it to one degree or another. It's inevitable. The only questions are when and how will the 401k be modified to compensate for the revisions or elimination?

Are you crazy even asking this? The same JNJ who is laying off every employee age 45-54 that they possibly can to avoid retiree health benefits and you question whether or not they will screw with the pension, too? It's all about hitting this quarter's number.

You are naive to question that the new leaner meaner J&J wouldn't screw the pensioners out of their promised payout.

My guess is they will keep until the positive PR they get from having it loses it's luster.

The first slash started today with the announcement of the change in retiree medical. Wouldn't you expect that timing for pension revision would be in same timeframe?

Hopefully this will serve as a wake up call for the folks hanging on for the "brass ring" of retiree benefits and the pension. I've been hearing rumblings about this for awhile and it finally came about. The Pension is next.

Read the fine print. Subject to change at any time and at corporate discretion.

No. This is due to the ACA and it's impact on our future healthcare. Pension will be fine. This is an adjustment in OOP costs for anyone younger than 55/10. The sky isn't falling chicken little.

"They will NEVER touch touch the pension." Just keep telling yourself that. Ignore the multiplier recalculation 6 or 7 years ago. And the implementation of GCF and caps in salary bands and bonus payouts three years ago has no impact on pension payouts. No. Those had no pension impacts.

Just keep your head buried in the sand. It's what they want.

Thank you sir may I have another!

I think the bigger question is how will JnJ be in 20-30 years when you need the pension. Many analyst don't believe the large Pharma/ device companies can weather the international medical reforms. People living longer and costing more to do it is not a popular notion in most governments today. You picked a bad industry to work in. Shoulda been a teamster or a parish/county worker.

It does not matter. Pensions are paid out of a fund that is separate from the company, and to which the company contributes over the years. At this time, the J&J pension plan is actually overfunded.

Its a pension fund. It may be "overfunded" today but there is no guarantee that JnJ can meet the obligations of its pensioners forever. the question is not if but when. It is going to happen.

While this may seem unrelated, the likely PFE acquisition of AZ does not bode well for JNJ and our pension as we know it. A market event this large will be significant and put a glut of people on the street--sales reps, marketers, scientists, IT, everybody... When the employer sees they are in demand, the need to differentiate--both to current and potential employees--is reduced.

It may be just rumor, but something like this doesn't just happen to get into the public domain. It is imminent and will have and impact within JNJs walls by year end.

Allergan is suppose to be acquired by Valeant.
