King reps, ask yourself-

Why don't I have a Blackberry? Why don't I have a TCL? Why don't I have access to HR Source? Why do I get emails 2 days layer than Pfizer? Why didn't I get business cards or name tags? Why don't my counterparts care to coordinate with me? Answer: no one expects you to be here in a month. Your "relationships" don't mean jack. You are selling products that Pfizer made billion dollar drugs! You are irrelevant. Some of you, those that acclimated best will be rolled in. Most of you will be gone.

They don't have BB or TCL? Wow - that seems pretty telling!

Pfizer reps, ask yourself - Why are you so concerned about the King reps when you face major lay-offs come mid August?

King rep here. I agree, and you should understand that most of us understand and agree with what you posted. Just remember that your "relationships" do not mean jack either, just look at your (pfizer's) past layoffs. Pfizer didn't give a shit about you either.

King legacy in the southeast were told to wait for their cards, then to wait until realignment and to keep using king cards, then to order if needed etc. Pretty telling. Pfizer reps are concerned of course, but we also know that the bulk of cuts will come from L King, at a ratio of about 3:1.

Told by your mgt that BB are coming in Oct/Nov. HR SOURCE - not yet because we are still on King's bene for another yr which is good because King's basic benefits are better than yours. TCL? We have a TCL list in our CUE but are still being paid on "dirt" which is our ENTIRE universe due to merger agreement. I'm on my second set of PFE business cards and have ordered 4 name tags to date.

But I will agree with you - our relationships mean very little with approval delays, but then again, at least we have relationships which is more than can be said of avg PFE rep.

Amazing how worried you all are about King reps. Let it go. We will all know soon who's going to stay and who will go. Chill my bro or sis.

Name Tags! Remember to bring up this critical business strength and experience during your next interview..Now what career paths involve wearing Name Tags?

What is all this talk about relationships by King reps when Endo reps have been smashing flector left and right with Voltaren Gel. Flector sales suck so bad they make Pristiq sales look good!

Hey, Pritiq did $700 million for Pfizer. It rivals Celebrex sales, dip sh&t.

When Pristiq triples its sales (over 2 billion) then it will be in the same league as Celebrex. Still losing, but in the same league.

Why rip the King reps? I don't work for King but they did not ask to be here. We all are doing the best we can and nobody is safe. Yes, there will be King layoffs. There will be Pfizer layoffs too. Instead of making others feel anxious and bad, how about we stand together and face the inevitable with dignity. I know I'm not safe, but no more in jeopardy than other Pfizer or King reps. It is wasted energy to worry. I hope I stay, but if not, it's been a good run for me in this industry. Life doesn't end with Pfizer. Stay positive and god bless us all.

Agreed. The King reps are just regular people out doing their jobs. Some are probably great reps, some are probably OK, and some probably suck. The same can be said for Pfizer or any other company in our industry.

As for what happens next month, I'll just say that i'm glad my region hasn't back-filled any openings since late 2009. It's meant more work for everybody, but at least we're a lot less likely to get canned this go-round. What I'm more concerned about is what happens 24-36 months down the road if our new products fail to hit sales goals and Viagra & Celebrex fall victim to significant generic threats (re-importation of Revatio and at-risk launch of generic celecoxib). Ian will hit the panic button to save his job, which means most of us will wind up losing ours. A lot of factors are beyond our control, including the economy. If the economy rebounded, at least we would all have brighter prospects post-Pfizer.

Better vote GOP in 2012, or hope R&D pulls a few rabbits out of their hat.

I almost agreed with you until you had to go and get all political. The economy is messed-up because of previous irresponsible administrations. This guy was handed a rotten deal and is in the process of fixing it. The GOP keeps trying to trip the guy up, regardless of whether he has a good idea for the nation or not, so they can take over in 2012. Open your eyes.

Pharma is stuck because of greed.

I'm a Pfizer rep for many years, and you OP are a real jerk. I mean seriously, why would you even write a post like this?! Really Jerky.

I didn't go all political, just a statement of fact- the current administration is openly hostile to private enterprise, and the Pharmaceutical industry in particular. Having worked in Pharma for 3 decades and seen industry-govt relations across 5 administrations (both GOP & Democrat), I know whereof I speak. Heck, even small employers (like my wife) are sitting on their hands until after the next election, hoping for a more hospitable environment for commerce. Take a look at DEMOCRAT Steve Wynn's recent comments RE: the Obama administration. I'm no social conservative, but I'll put up with some of their nonsense if we can get the economy untracked (they'll never overturn Roe v. Wade anyway, so I'm not worried).

Pharma isn't stuck because of greed, it's stuck from a lack of new product, due to multiple factors (certainly not all the government's doing - Pharma is to some extent a victim of their own success in the 1980s & 1990s, but I digress).

I also have three decades in the industry and the problem us all about LEGAL. If our industry did'nt involve the LAW we would be selling product again. Unfortunately lawyers THINK THEY ARE THE ONLY INTELLIGENT ONES BREATHING.
