PCRMs are coming soon. Last time we had a PCRM (April), we were informed the day before that we were going to go thru another reorg and layoffs. Rumors continue to fly that we will face layoffs again around the April timeframe. Any insiders have any information they can share?

WOW!!! Big surprise - post 2010 layoff DSM here- let me tell you ...... Line things up now get them in order and take advantage of the package...... life is short do you really want to continue with the stress and pressure of knowing that you need to take another position??? It is not hard- leaverage your relationships with your top volume customers and get into Biotech or Medical devices..... It is not easy but take the package and do what you know is right. Best of luck to all and good night to this farce of a company. Stay away from pharma as you all know new reps are 3 yr contract and then done. See the writing and then see the wall- make your play or you will pay. To quote Nike " Just Do IT!"

Look for No. American component to see big, BIG layoffs across the board: R&D, Medical, Marketing, Sales, HR. Be sure to thank DC for this 'gift'.

The sky is falling! The sky is falling! There are NO layoffs pending for 2011. If we lose a product or two then all bets are off. 2011 is good to go. So to the origninal poster F-off!

The process is already underway for layoffs in 2011. Budgets are being cut again and that means loss of headcount - plain and simple. There is no getting around it short of magic money trees sprouting in the offices of division heads. Hope for the best and plan for the worst.

It's the same people posting the same thing over and over. The company is strong and we're glad you people left. Nobody cares, how many times do we have to tell you!

See the signs...blind and stupid is no way to go through life. (Unless you're gsk management).

I think Blind and Stupid are replacing two of the other High Performance Behaviours for 2011.

To poster #7: You are an idiot! Let's say you do know what you're talking about (which you don't). But let's pretend you do. What would you have us do? Just quit. Look A-hole! The economy sucks. Pharma as a whole is hurting. No one needs to "read between the lines" as you say to see that. GSK is not laying off in 2011. But if it happens, it happens. Now go away F-Head!

Fine. You're right. GSK is going to re-structure again. My head is in the sand. Oh well. I guess I'll just keep going to work, doing what they ask of me and collecting a paycheck. My head may be in the sand but you're head is stuck up your bung hole! So go away and let us be. Once again, F-off!

No thanks. I'll continue to participate in discussions on cafe pharma. If that upsets you, so much the better. Don't read my posts if you don't like what I have to say.

For some real amusement, you have to go on LinkedIn and read some of the drivel past and present GSKers list in their job descriptions...did we work for the same company? It's hilarious! I'm all for turning negatives into positives, but it should be based in some kind of reality. It's those same people who are the reasons I want out of this place - get over yourselves - you are not making a contribution to this company's bottom line. In fact, none of us are - we are PHARM REPS.
Yeah, LinkedIn...big entertainment if you can swallow your own vomit.

Guys there have been layoffs every single year since 2006. This after every year being told by management that there would be no layoffs. Finally in 2010 I got sick of being lied to every single year only to be left in limbo for 3 months while waiting to find out if I had a job.
I decided to leave on my own in 2010. Do I have any inside knowledge of layoffs in 2011? No but does common sense tell you that its coming again Yes. What drugs are you selling? If your in general pharma at gsk your in big trouble. If your in vaccines be carefull as they have over hired for years. If your in the hospital position selling entereg run for the hills. Oncology and the new lupus division seem to be the best place to be.. Other than that how can really think that no layoffs are coming.

Layoffs are coming!! Work for a decent manager and he said to be prepared for a very drastic change this time through. He has been right every single time in the last 4 years. The model is not going to look anything like what we have in the field now. Drastic changes and drastic cuts every state will look very different. Some states may have 60% or more of the representatives gone. I have been lucky to work for a very transparent manager he is open and honest. We are unable to say this about many of the leaders at GSK. Be prepared and Don't Drink the KoolAid.

I was told mostly specialists being kept. The rest is 50% layoff especially Advair reps. Don't worry. The pharmacy team is gonna pull through scripts. You gotta hate this company sometimes.

Yes, we have had more than our fair share of layoffs. But to those who are predicting another in 2011, you full of sh!t! Your manager told you? C'mon! Look, I don't know much but "common sense" as you say, says: There is not a hiring freeze(we have always had one pre-layoff), CVMU territories are already huge, respiriatory has the product driving the company train why mess with their division?, and finally, it may seem like a long time ago, but we just downsized 6 mos ago.

So here it is you fear mongor. Layoffs could happen, but probably not this year. If it happens, well then let's hope those who want to be here end up staying. But to idiots like you...F-off!!! Go pedal your nonsense on another site. By the way, we have jobs now and that's what matters. No one can control the future. See ya a-hole!
