That remains the plan for pediatrics, which is entirely order taking.

Our ramp up has to do with the boots on the ground needed in the adult market and the future launches in both per & adult.

Must be culture shock for the old time Wyeth Pediatric reps. No more nice friendly Peds and staff to talk to while counting doses. How's things with the IMs, FP, etc???? Lots of fun right? Welcome to the real world my friends. Are you counting the months/years till you can retire?

That is the question on the day. Adult docs are on auto pilot with flu vaccines-it's a commodity and they use any brand. They are also cheap bast*rds who don't want to take dime one out of their pockets. If they are given a choice they will use the cheapest vaccine available. Unless there is a recommendation that says they "absolutely must" use Prevnar over Merck's polysac it will be a tough sell. Especially these days with reduced reimbursements for EVERYTHING and Obamacare squeezing the life out of them. Adult market is totally different from the Pediatric market (with a strong recommendation and sole source status). A monkey can sell it there. Look what happened when Wyeth launched Flumist to adults!!! Anyone remember that fiasco?

Have to wonder why the company doesn't just roll this division into Primary Care. What little relationships are left with PCPs are with this division. Train the reps already there and get on with it. With Celebrex going generic (and Viagra soon) they can use the work. Besides-the adult market is culture shock to the Pediatric reps in this division....they hate calling on them and it's beyond their comfort level. By rolling them into Primary Care they can bring their Vaccine experience over and help with the transition. Win/win-no one loses their job and hopefully the vaccine sells more.

18 year GSK rep here. Sold and managed Pharma products for over 10 years. Went to our vaccines division and it is so much easier. Sales calls last 30-60 minutes and the customers appreciate the value we bring as they are paying for and administering the vaccine. There is usually only one competitor and no generic threat so for me it ended up being a great change.
If there is an opening in vaccines you should take a good look at it. Just be thankful every day that you were not hired into GSK. We don't get paid on sales, we take tests and simulations every quarter that determines our pay and status. I am on this link to see if there are any Pfizer vaccine postings coming in the future as I would jump ship in a heartbeat.

So many reasons it's hard to type them all. Why aren't you selling Xel? Why do we have a salesforce selling Toviaz and Viagra? Why can't PC get Eliq off the ground? Why did so few of the outstanding Cluster 1 reps apply for the vaccine jobs a month ago?

With vaccines you don't sell co-pay cards or vouchers. You sell an expensive vaccine that hasn't gotten a recom. from the ACIP. You sell uphill every day. We are truly the Sisyphus of the industry aside from the deceitfulness
