We tried it and let's face it, it has failed miserably! As a former PSAE and now VKCL, I have to admit this job is a joke. We need to go back to being a Public Sector team where we had a clear purpose and delivered top performance year after year. As a VKCL, we don't know what our mission is, our leadership stinks, and we can't say focused on one thing long enough to deliver results. As PSAEs, we had an excellent team of acct leaders, our priorities were clear, we had very good leadership, and we beat plan every year. This is the first year I have been a part of a team that did not meet or exceed plan. MV lost it's way under Todd Nichols' leadership, now it's time to right the ship. First order of business should be to reestablish the Public Sector team and get us focused on our most important customers.
At least the person admits the VKCL position is a joke. When will leadership admit they bring no value to sales reps in the field. Leadership sucks because they don't motivate and encourage. Leadership is too busy pushing unrealistic sales metrics and forcing out reps with over 15 years of experience with the company so Merck doesn't have pay out big pensions.
Kudos for an honest assessment of this role. Probably unrealistic that they will bring back the PSAE team since most of the people are gone - too bad.
It is unfortunate to see widespread forcing out of experienced employees to avoid, as stated, "pay(ing) out big pensions". Such practice is clearly impacting a) employee view of corporations, and b) consumer confidence, or more correctly, lack thereof in today's economy. If there is any consolation in such situation, rest assured that karma is alive and well: clearly those past, and those currently doing the firing, are or will be gone.
The VKCL in Michigan is completely worthless. The VKCL spends more time working out than trying to get into some of the limited access systems. The reps definitely work harder than the VKCL does.
