I vote Sally Sussman. Biggest PR blunder in Pfizer's history. And her dad was US ambassador to UK. Shows what happens when your hire political nepotism over intellect.

Another Pfizer communications Pfuckup, reported by tonight's Financial Times of London. Sussman is head executive director for global communications and public affairs. A snafu press release should be just cause for her Pfiring!

Pfizer scrambles to keep Astra bid alive

"Under UK takeover rules, Pfizer is not allowed to increase its offer or launch a hostile bid because it declared its £55 proposal final and said it would proceed only if the bid was recommended by AstraZeneca’s board. However, in its revised statement late on Monday, Pfizer said it “reserved the right subsequently to increase its offer at any time” in response to Astra Zeneca's statement stating under British law Pfizer cannot amend its final offer for a period of six months.

clearly, AZ outflanked PfizerPros. In political strategy, communications and media. It was as if Pfizer doesn't even have a European bureau? Head of Pfizer Europe should be canned too.

AstraZeneca says 'absolutely clear' that Pfizer offer final, can't be raised
AstraZeneca (AZN) notes the prior announcement made by Pfizer (PFE) seeking to clarify certain matters set out in its announcement on May 18 which set out its final proposal to AstraZeneca. Following some questions from shareholders, AstraZeneca wishes to make clear the following points: "Despite AstraZeneca indicating the price and other bases on which it would have been prepared to recommend an offer by Pfizer, Pfizer at its sole election and without prior discussion with AstraZeneca, has in its Final Proposal Announcement stated that its proposal is final; that it will not make a hostile offer; and that it will only announce a firm offer with the recommendation of the AstraZeneca Board." Leif Johansson, Chairman of AstraZeneca said: "We have decided that it is necessary to issue a statement to make absolutely clear that Pfizer's final proposal, which the Board rejected, is not capable under the Takeover Panel rules of being increased or even suggested at being increased, privately or publicly, with or without the Board's approval or recommendation. This restriction that prevents further negotiation on value is a consequence of Pfizer's actions. The Board has made clear in its [prior] statement that it is not in the interests of AstraZeneca shareholders to recommend an offer unless the value of the company and its protected delivery to shareholders is properly represented by the amount and terms of the offer."

so first Sussman is a key player in getting Pfizer to push Obamacare for pharma support...a law which Ian has stated is not only bad for Pharma, but just bad...but now has also screwed this up...lets see if her daddy and DEM lobbying ties help her keep her job this time...

After 2 years of communications strategy all Pfizer got was a "get old" campaign? And a PAC full of bundled Obama campaign money? Where is the experienced leadership???? It's like someone is running their position for self-political gain, at Pfizer's expense as we see with the AZ deal gone bad in public relations and policy affairs. WTF?

that's exactly what Sussman does, runs her position for self political gain...maybe to follow in Daddy's footsteps with a nice political appointment for her efforts...what I don't get is why Ian and leadership allows it to continue...
