Love it when managers are told you need other managers to work with you. Sure bet these charms come fully prepared to agree with your manager on every little thing. Could it be a new version of the pre-call plan is born!

With all the ulcers and ojida happening these days its time for managers to mix a little Golden Rule to that evaluation...

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you..." Sweet.

    WTF....management by comittee?

Sounds like we need fewer managers. Save a few bucks?

Is this really what life is like in the Merck field these days? Guess I'm too old to believe this kind of stuff is actually going on but if it is, I truly pity you people suffering through such a working environment. How anyone could accept such pure unadulterated BS baffles me.

In the past all this never did seem to occur. Field rides were congenial and actually helpful. Today its a top to bottom analysis looking for anything. In a way it reminds me of the game.. pin the tail on the donkey.

Every CTL's top priority is to reduce headcount. It's been that way for many years…and it's been very effective.

    FU Merck.

These extra rides are for people of "all rankings." The single thing the reps have most in common? I think you know the answer.

this is such bullshit. No manger is trying to get someone fired unless they are clearly fucking up royally. Most managers are just trying to keep their people engaged so they get up and do something every day so they don't have to yank their chain. Put it this way...when you have FV 's and never hear about what you are paid to promote...things are pretty obvious. Most mangers just want to be able to have their teams do well. If you think its not obvious when you are not working.....do you really think merck owes you a paycheck just because you exist?

You're speaking as one ctl. Managers are different. Agree reps need opportunity. Some managers care more about small talk than talking products. Our manager gives crap FV reviews if you're not placing enough emphasis on the ball game discussions. Some managers meet you late, take off early and complain about your lacks and deficiencies during that day. Now what is BS? lol..

Question for both CTLs and reps: If you remove the busy work activity metrics, what is the true measure of production for a primary care pharmaceutical rep these days? Not talking competency/skill assessments, talking PRODUCTION. What can reps do to move the sales needle? Not talking good intentions, talking results.

Pick on pcp and nobody else? It's the same all over. Production is the new product on the block and the high efficacy older med. both win and move needles IF they have good mc coverage....

To post #9; Baloney ! You do not know what you are talking about. Someone can be harassed because of numbers which is not their fault. Some managers like the power trip and the control and are jealous of senior people. Wake up.

Working at Merck in field sales is a crapshoot. One rep's experience can be nearly 180 degrees out of phase from another rep's experience, all because of their different managers with different styles. One manager can be a saint to their reps while another manager can be a prick. One manager good, the other is not so good. It's all a crapshoot and comes down to being lucky. How long your luck lasts is a crapshoot, too! So to all of you, GOOD LUCK with your Merck employment experience. There was a day long ago when working for Merck was worth it. The company had a great reputation from within and without and one could feel a part of something very good and worthwhile in working at Merck. Now the worth and value of working at Merck has little to nothing to do with the company Merck which is sad and unfortunate.

The good reputation and good people have ridden off long ago into the sunset.
