How about learning to read? Publishes reports from Shire state that FO is going to be in charge of the rare disease division reporting to AbbVie CEO. Nothing else has been announced, but one can assume the people FO seems as critical get the retention cash- that isn't us.

I sure hope it's not axed by people who can't spell neuroscience...

Many reps from both sides will be gone. Humaria, Abbvies number one product patent is expiring. They will need to decide to keep their own or Shire rep. It won't be pretty.

Why would they announce an expansion to the NBU if they thought we'd all get the ax when merger happened? It doesn't make sense. Nothing to worry about here. Shire is about to hire a lot more reps!

They need to keep our numbers up prior to the deal, and everyone know Neuroscience still provides most of the revenue, even though most of the leadership has left. So they need to keep making promises they don't have to keep, to keep us motivated. AbbVie has a CNS group that no doubt has the inside track.

Because they don't care about us getting cut! They care about the 30 protected!

AbbVie's Neuroscience group has nothing. No Alzheimer's, no depression, no Schizophrenia. Only MS and Parkinson's. It is not a stable group. Most went to Oncology.

Ask King how that worked out with the Pfizer merger? In fact, put merger and expansion in the search field and read how many other companies "expanded" right before huge layoffs. Get your head out of the sand. This is Shire's way of keeping you and the shareholders engaged. Why didn't Flemming or Perry announce Abbvie's Plans for the current Nuero sales force yet? Surely this would matter before they decided to expand right? Oh yeah...it doesn't matter. It's all about perception. Business as usual.

exactly - we are being bought by AbbVie for synergies- not the other way around. FO took care of himself in 10 million ways !!!

this is sadly very true. At least we know the layoffs won't happen over the holiday. More likely in 1st or 2nd quarter. They may displace a fe reps and allow them to transfer to an expansion territory in another area.

Layoffs always happen in January at AbbVie.
