They may think they have negotiated their security but not true. I was a regional manager with another company and I never had to fire anyone, I just made their lives so miserable they simply quit. Same will happen here. Buyouts, mergers, partnerships, etc. whatever you label them, all end the same way. Necessary head count will be determined, and the rest will go from top to bottom. It will be calm and everyone will play nice for the next six-10 mos. then the cuts will come. Business is all about profit, not people. Prepare yourself for the worst and hope for the best is about all you can do
