Otsuka already has established reps in this space. What do you think it means for us?

Past History of Otsuka is to either eliminate all sales specialists or offer them lower salaries to stay! Get your package and get out as soon as the severance is offered. You DO NOT want to work for that company. Very strict Japanese culture and business model. RUN!

You can trust MM. Very disappointed you are not confident with your future here. He blends in well with the Japanese

Cant trust any management in this business and I propose you move up thru the ranks. Although they r closed to all but college rommies, family, and Country club memebers of your daddy's....

Sad to watch them hire so so many only to watch them get slashed... YOunger reps think things go on as usual... Notta... Katlin and the bunch sold out the company and will now sit on the sideline for a while (no worries), big vacations, etc. and then move on to another venture. Forever remember !

They just told us the sale were BS and rumors.... Anyone staying is crazy... Especially if you can cash out and get in a better situation. Always LOOOK ! and continue looking as this business is ruthless...

As I have been involved with very similar types of mergers in the past this is not a good situation for reps up through DMs. Otsuka needs products and a pipeline NOT a bigger commercial infrastructure. The fact you all just went through an expansion this year is even more a reason Otsuka will shred a good portion of you folks. You were already bloated in your current structure and now that you have a larger company with a very full sales force looking for products to sell why would they keep even 75% of you? Kiss training regulatory compliance etc etc goodbye as well. For those of you who stay kiss goodbye to the large commission Avanir was paying as well. Newer DMs/reps will be most vulnerable.

It is a simple tender transaction. Avanir management cannot go out and solicit other offers during the conditional period. This period will most likely be prolonged by lawyers representing individual shareholders who feel that the $17/share is a bit low, but very seldom do shareholder actions like this actually stop a deal.

However, sales reps can solicit offers indirectly by selling pills. For example, if the sales force gets pill numbers near or over 300K/week before the end of December other groups may express interest if they haven't already.

In the past year I have been in interviews or discussions about employment with 3 companies when they were purchased. In all of those cases, everyone that I spoke with or interviewed with, as of December 1, 2014, is still employed (and that includes reps). So no one is getting canned tomorrow, ok.

The people I have met at Avanir are some of the finest, most outstanding, and professional leaders I have ever met in this industry. I sincerely wish all of you the best.

Focus, move smoothly, hit your targets, and be relentless, now more than ever.

    What flavor is your cool-aid?

Also, Otsuka has strict adherence to ethical standards. For many of you who promoted off label, it's time to think about how you promote your cough medicine

Kiss up much? Regardless of whether you still have a job after the merge, working for ot-sucka will be a nightmare and a career killer. Metrics over substance. Your career tree is about to be clear cut.

Plain and simple, this industry is not for those who wish to stay with a single company and move up the ranks. How many of us have been told here that it's a small company that won't sell out? How many told that if we stick here and be a loyal employee we will be making the big bucks when new sales forces are hired on and we get promoted? The answer is sadly too many of us, and now we see this company is no different than the others. Oh well, I should have known better and kept my eyes open for a better opportunity.
