So many openings in my area for Pfizer, but no shot for an interview. This, despite having close to 20 years experience and great relationships.

Its not that I want the job with such a crap company, but at least ask me if I want it.

Guess some of us are not Pfizer material.

I am in the same situation. There is an opening in my area for the same drugs that I sell and the piece of shit pfizer manager has not even given me an opportunity to pursue that job. I would not work for the DM anyway because of the micromanagement still that this individual has. Thank god I got offered another job and I am leaving this shitty ass contract. I have had more meeting and field rides in 6 months with this company then I had for seven years with my previous company. Pfizer is a very unproductive company because they spend to much time out of the field and not enough time in front of doctors, they suck ass.

Its been an absoute BlowJob, this contract. If you have a rep who is qualified, does well in training and is professional, then they should get first shot at interviewing for the open Pfizer positions. But, noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Its total BS, because I took this job with the hope of getting into the full time role. And, instead, I get kicked in the ass.

Last contract job for me. No more.

Does Pfizer have a hiring freeze in place on outside candidates?

unfortunately most contractors never end up rolling over. A few might but most don't. The hiring manager from Company X will tell you there is the possibility of rolling over so you will come on board but like I said, this rarely happens. Contract though is the wave of the future in pharma for as long as sales reps are viable so staying with a contract is probably a good way to go. There is not a lot of long term prospects any more in pharma. Sales reps are too expensive, too many offices are closing down and the impact reps make is too small to justify the expense. if it was me, i would start taking college courses, probably in something like hospital adminstration while still employed. honestly you should have time to attend some classes or take a majority on line. then, when you get he degree, jet from pharma altogether.

You bet they do! With Lipitor going generic this year, the freeze has been on for a while.Loosing the#1 prescribed drug will cause some major changes at Pfizer! Viagra will also go generic soon! Why do you think the CEO left recently?? He took his golden parachute and ran as fast as he could! You should too!

Amen to that! I would rather work on a contract then be in Pfizer's culture! My DBM has mentioned integrating me in if an opening comes up and I think, GOD NO!
If this contract ends, I will go work somewhere else or on another contract for another company. Better than the Pfizer culture and mentality!

They are a bunch of wacky people there.

If you are not making over 100k, then working for Pfizer is not a good move. And if it is in a costly area to live, it has to be closer to 150k.

    Otherwise, you are a loser.

Pfizer has just announced more layoffs, so the contract job might have more job security.
