I just attended the AstraZeneca BEM meeting in Dallas...........

I overheard two senior level AZ managers talking over some wine at a reception room. I could not hear all the conversation, but I kept hearing the word "Shire" over and over again.

Where there is smoke there is fire!

 

There are a lot of companies that would like to get their hands on Shire. AZ has shown interest before. Bottom line is that the market cap is ~$20B which is very expensive for any company.

 

True, but AstraZeneca has over $8 billion in cash to fund a purchase or merger. Plus, they are desperate for new products to sell due to their impending patent cliff on Nexium and Crestor.

 

BMS is also looking at Shire.

 

The good old days of shire are over!!! Shire lifers wake up!! It's over. Dust those resumes off.

 

I'd love to see this happen. In a perfect world they'd keep the sales force and fire my RD. I hate that SOB
