    Hi Pfizer,

In anticipation of your price increase on or about November 01, we decided to take an initial step toward a 25% discount for Pediatricians. When the CAPITA data comes in, get ready to bend over again. You really should show us a little more respect.

capita is not going to show any benefit in adults to overcome the large population herd effects. get over your pipedreams!

No one is asking, so begs the question. So what if capita shows no difference? Will the Prevnar promotional force roll back to the original 200 Wyeth pediatric sales force?

CAPITA will have no ability AT ALL to determine a herd effect because children are not vaccinated in the Netherlands, and neither were adults before the CAPITA study which is why the Netherlands was chosen. Not even in vaccines and know that. Where are you people from.

Yes, as Wyeth reps have the pediatric experience and have shown themselves to be superior than the legacy Pfizer psychiatry reps.

The fact that a Pfizer Prevnar rep doesn't know CDC is monitoring as part of the Active Core Surveillance and discussed this HERD measurement initiative at the ACIP Adult meeting 2012 should come as no surprise, should it? Because your company never told you about it, huh?

The response you are referencing was to the post mentioned that CAPITA would not be successful due to herd affect, and that is impossible because children are not vaccinated in the Netherlands and their would be no way to identify herd from CAPITA. That has nothing to do with ACIP monitoring herd due to the affects in countries where children are vaccinated which (ie: where the herd comes from). Just plain ignorance and inability to read and understand.

Not true, the Netherlands absolutely vaccinates. Vaccination rates in Europe are much lower (60-70%) vs. the US (>90%). Maybe if you were in vaccines or had the intelligence to use google prior to posting you might look less foolish. Thank goodness this site is anonymous, your ignorance is showing!

Another study I found stated vaccinations for other diseases is even higher (MMR, and DPTP).

    Published in 2010
In the Netherlands, the 7-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV-7) was implemented in a 3+1-dose schedule in the national immunization program for infants born after April 1, 2006. To assess the vaccine’s effectiveness, we compared disease incidence before and after vaccine implementation (June 2004–June 2006 and June 2006–June 2008, respectively). We serotyped 2,552 invasive pneumococcal isolates from throughout the Netherlands, covering 25% of the country’s population. Clinical characteristics were extracted from hospital records. After June 2006, vaccine-serotype invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) decreased 90% (95% confidence interval [CI] 68%–97%) in children age eligible for PCV-7; simultaneously, however, non–vaccine-serotype IPD increased by 71% (not significant), resulting in a 44% total net IPD reduction (95% CI 7%–66%). IPD rates did not change for other age groups. In the Netherlands, PCV-7 offered high protection against vaccine-serotype IPD in vaccinated children, but increases of non–vaccine-serotype IPD reduced net vaccine benefits.

CDC is measuring HERD immunity with Prevnar in the US and it will effect their decision and NNT/$ calculation. Get up to speed, skippy!
