pardon me einstein. I am aware that ULT often triggers a flare and know the Uloric indications. I also know that allopurinol is a cheap and effective generic that physicians use 90% of the time instead of Uloric. So why would you feel the loyalty to promote a more expensive branded ULT like Uloric along with your expensive branded Colcrys?

the reps that made that kind of money were few and far between. Most reps made no bonus at all. url really did a number on us as far as telling us they were extending our contract. they knew at our nsm in Orlando in February Takeda was pusing through. I cant believe all the untruths. Docs still do hate us out in the field and only trying to be nice to the reps that have been calling on them for 2.5 years. I have numerous offices the docs wont allow me to go into and most wont even give me the time of day with colcrys. My best advice is lower the exorbitant price of the drug if you want to be able to stand a chance.
We almost lost our battle to another generic colchicine in May of last year so it is very possible another one is coming on board soon. dont believe all this patent protection nonsense. please! I have had docs tell me another one is in the works right now.
Youre right, it has been a horrible day for us, quite a shock! best of luck.

Whoever said they helped promote Uloric probably mis spoke. I never claimed to my offices that I promoted Allo or Uloric but I did sell the long term need and benefits of using Colcrys with any ULT to prevent long term damage. Selfishly, Colcrys and acute business will only get you so far. To grow and reach baseline, the urgency was in refills and combo therapy. I don't think we are trying to bash each other and we can all agree there does not need to be name calling. It's a job and a paycheck.

It was hard at first to the 100 people who launched Colcrys. We had a rough go of it and felt like we were in a street fight everyday. We were hated! The additional 200 started a year ago. Maybe it was easier on them. Usually the reps hired had a past relationship with their accounts so if this was anger about the FDA action, it was not taken out on the rep they have known for 5-10 years.

Doctors used to talk so much crap about cholcris. I would agree with them and say it was a shady thing to do. Now I am going to walk in the office with it in my bag. Great buy Takeda. None of us will have a job in a year.

"Colcrys": "Cole Chris" You all had better learn how to spell it and say it if you are going to sell it!

So, will all URL reps soon be laid-off is still the question? In most markets large and small Takeda reps outnumber URL reps 2 or 3 to 1. Surely Takeda won't keep the URL sales force around and promote both drugs as "gout specialists" right?

To the one or two URL reps who posted, please spare us the condescending clinical update on gout. We are ALL aware that patients have to prophylax with either an NSAID or colchicine for @6 months when they start any urate lowering therapy. Considering that over 2/3 of gout patients have some level of renal insufficiency, colchicine is the obvious choice over an NSAID. When Colcrys came out, it essentially raised the cost of Uloric, because you can't take one without the other. All of a sudden, when a provider was considering initiating Uloric therapy, they had to consider the cost of Colcrys for prophylaxis (which had been very minimal, and thus not a major consideration before). We are also aware of how pissed off the ACR was, and the fact that your president and CEO got their asses drug up in front of a Congressional committee to explain how your R&D costs could possibly justify the exorbitant cost of Colcrys. I am sure that things have gotten a lot better with your Rheum's since you launched, but Colcrys still is not a product that anyone who has been selling Uloric is going to be doing any backflips over. I hope that we are all able to remain employed through all of this. Good luck!

At least you will have something they need to have as opposed to something that is a niche. Remember you are being handed a 450 million drug. I don't know what uloric is producing but it is not close to that. At least not in my area. Colcrys is doing 3 times what Uloric is doing here. Granted not sure you will be able to grow it much more than its already doing. There are still providers writing wrong and still many that write it occasionally that don't understand what happened and why but URL salesforce could not reach because we were already spread thin.

Do you URL peeps really have to hijack our board like you hijack cheap simple drugs? And then start professing to know more about gout than we do? I realize most of you have good intentions, are blindsided by the news and are fearful for your future. Welcome to pharma. Takeda reps feel this way every day. As for a tough sell? Please don't ever say that in an interview. You think its hard to sell a band-aid drug with a soiled reputation to a rheum? or an internist that knows nothing about the disease? We ARE overpaid. And you all need to get in line

you think youre over paid? youre a moron... why dont you ask for a pay decrease to 30K or go flip burgers then so the rest of us can actually make a living

Awww. Thanks for the kind words and sympathy. Hopefully you can use the same loving tone to your kids when you tuck them in bed tonight. Maybe you can be our personal recruiter as you really seem to have great ideas on what we should and should not say in an interview. URL reps are on here because we are curious, confused and just trying to figure things out. The average rep with URL has over 10 years of pharma experience and quite familiar with lay offs, pay perception etc. I also know it is not the norm for a rep to find out on FB or a website telling them there will not be a job to go to come June 1. I bet Takeda reps were given a heads up when they went through the unfortunate lay offs a few months ago. I am glad you were able to spend the day with confidence of job security and was in the mood to name call and disrespect us. Twist the knife deeper. We need it.

Tell me your territory. Hopefully it is close to mine. Are you that confident with your relationships and disease state knowledge to go up in an interview against me for the job? I'm pretty good. Afterall, I helped launch this soiled band aid product that made $450 last year. I'm okay being Jennifer Aniston while you falsely believe you are Angelina winning in the end. Oh yes and regarding the Rheu's that hate us...maybe I should ignore the invite I just received from one of mine to attend his daughters First Communion.

Give these poor URL reps a break for goodness sake!! We've all been there and it sucks and they are the ones most likely being screwed right now. Clearly they did a great job thus far!

This thread is the perfect example of the mind-state of Tapkeda reps right now. They're whiny, ENTITLED and self-centered. Upset about a shitty portfolio, the next layoff, upcoming product launches (really?), their "TIP" bonus, targeting, meetings in Vegas (again, really?), and demonstrating a lack of knowledge for a disease state in which they're suppose to be experts. Why would they think they need to sell against colchicine instead of allo for crying out loud??? Then they question Uloric's performance, not-to-mention it had a full television DTC campaign behind it too! Wake up HQ at Takeda. Take the overpaid garbage to the curb and outsource to a cheaper, coachable, and eager Contract Sales Force. Colcrys eclipsed the sales of most Takeda products in only a couple years while, according to Takeda reps, being unliked by docs and a horrible, overpriced drug. In the face of layoffs, look at the passion demonstrated by Contract reps in this thread versus the losers currently working at Takeda. Shameful.

Takeda mindset - "I better apologize for having this drug". And that's why you guys can't sell a damn thing.

    To the Takeda Reps:
I am sorry if you feel as if we (URL reps) have taken over your board today. We were all taken a little off guard today. We are simply coming to what can often be the best source of information to try to figure some things out and start planning our futures. While I do not feel that this is the proper time or place to detail and/or defend products please understand that this is a natural response when our knowledge and skills are taken into question (which is how it has been perceived in this emotional moment). I do not believe that was anyone's intention, but everyone is a little on edge today. All that we ask is that if you hear something about our fate that you please share it on this forum. I think we would all agree that any information at a time like this (particularly regarding timelines) can be very helpful. You all went through a restructuring recently and must remember how this feels. I do not believe that there is any competition here, rather the need and desire for professional respect and any assistance that you may be able to provide. The best of luck to you guys when you start promoting Colcrys (as there are some definite challenges, many of which have already been identified on this thread). Thank you for your help.
