I have worked for 2 different pharmaceutical companies over the last 17 years. I have a recruiter and a hiring manager trying to get me to come over to Shire (selling Vyvanse). Can someone tell me the advantages and disadvantages to working for Shire versus other companies? I think most all companies are about the same, but wanted to hear some good and bad from the actual employees. Your responses are appreciated. Thanks!!

The bad- Vyvanse has some very strong generic competition.
The good- New hires make a ton of money here. You'll make a minimum of $100K in base

Bad or good: The company is talking about issuing a sales uniform for the field to wear.

The Good: Selling a product that changes patients lives
The bad: Layoffs coming soon and will be based on tenure. Expect a short lived gig.

Perry said no layoffs on the conference call. Don't just say that and not back it up! Where did you hear layoffs?

I find it interesting that Shire is recruiting nationally.
Are they planning to replace experienced reps with younger, cheaper reps.?
