Well as predicted 2011 will be a bloodbath at Pfizer. Transplant group done away with on the 2nd day of the New Year. Took out like trash, with no thank you. We are hearing that the hospital reps will be cut in half in late March. Upper management has been coached to state that their divisions will be OK. The truth is otherwise. Stay tuned.

Marcus and the Lump have assured us that no layoffs are on the horizon. With their history of honesty and integrity I am sure that is the case.

wow! 24 people lost their jobs in transplant which is under attorney general investigation for off-label promotion in 2005 and nets $75 million for Pfizer. I am so scared they will come for the 500 in hospitals next. ooooooooooo! Scary.

HO mole here- all I can tell you is that internal studies were done in hospitals, just like the ones done with transplant centers. Customers were interveiwed and the results told us that they wanted medical info(new) from medical experts, not sales people. Based on our market research, Pfizer followed this advice here which we should be applauded not castigated. Expect similiar results in institutions as most now know that most academic institutions shut out sales people long ago. We are just awaiting final results of surveys, interviews and analysis, as well as our new model going forward. Like transplants, we are not involving any IS management personnel, so there will be no bias. Due to old drugs at the end of the life cycle, it is looking like a severe downsizing or elimination of this division this year. Please do not question your management team with questions, as they have no idea on these matters. They will try to convince their sales teams and probably themselves that they are needed. Thirty percent turnover and empty territories outperforming covered territories are further signals that things are about to change dramatically. Rest assured that this will take several months to wrap things up, as we were hoping that transplants could have been done away with by 3Q10.

Was informed by someone that attended that advisory meeting that they told Pfizer the reps. bring no value to them (this is Pfizers choice), but the panel did not tell Pfizer that they wanted contact from medical experts, just that they felt there was no value being brought to them. Second, since the hospital environment has severly shut down access, it would be even more difficult for medical experts to gain access, as well as put up with the shit that the reps. have to on a daily basis. An MSL would not put up with that crap. Your facts on the drugs are not accurrate-Zyvox still has a few good years left, and Tygacil is a relatively new drug launched in 2005. Plus, the stats claiming 30% turnover is flat out wrong. Maybe in one region, but most regions have had minimal turnover in 2010, except for what Pfizer mgmt. does to push that process along. Everyone has been expecting downsizing, but some of the rationale stated above doesn't make sense. Don't expect anything to make sense at Pfizer, esp. those put in leadership positions. Pfizer is the most ineptly run pharma company that exists. The ones being layed off should be at the top before anyone even looks at the bottom. They are killing this company.

So you think Pfizer should be applauded, and were hoping transplant could have been hacked in the 3rd quarter sounds like your very pleased at all the people who will be losing their jobs because of a company filled with inept leaders in mgmt. who know nothing about running a pharmaceutical company. If they knew what they were doing, we would not be in the position of constant and continual layoffs. Yet, you have not said anything about how senior leadership running this company should all be let go due to their incompentence at running Pfizer. We are all doomed on this sinking ship.

To suggest Pfizer is dismantling or severely downsizing in institutions is like saying medical device companies won't employ med reps as a sales communication tool anymore in hospitals.

Yes, things may not always be what they were, but you still have to find ways to create value for the company and customers. I know it's tough, but it's called business-to-business sales.

Ask any true sales professional how hard their job is. Pfizer IS needs to change their stinking thinking!

Agreed- this is why we are getting rid of reps for customer service people. Why pay over priced reps who add nothing. It is game over for hospital reps in 2011.

I just do not see it happening, we need to maintain a presence in the hospitals for future new products. That's why we had to have Wyeth is for all their new products. How can you doubt out leadership?

ZERO chance that any medical smuck, PhD, PharmD, MSL, RN etc would ever, ever go through the shit reps do with regards to credentialing.

Status Blue, Reptrax, etc where set up as money making machines and as obstacles to cut down on rep access and as lazy as medical affairs people are there is no way they are going to go through all the red tape needed to see customers.

When you really need someone who will get into the shit and deliver results, who do you call?

Mother Green and her Killing Machine: the rep. All that shit you hear about the air cav being the badest, well at the end of the day, only we get it done.

    Semper Fi!
