I have a great idea...let's hire someone to be the RBD for the SE oncology team. What kind of qualifications are we looking for? Hmmmm..... Experience as a sales rep interacting with MDs- since that's the team they'll be leading (check). Oh- how about experience as a manager since they'll be managing not only sales reps, but teams of DBM's as well (check). Honesty & integrity- we have to include that since we are BMS and that's what we pride ourselves on (check). I've got another one- a proven track record of results- that's a great one! We all want results- right?!!(check)
So...who to hire..... I have the perfect person! He has no experience, shady morals, no proven track record of clear results- what could possibly go wrong!!! You're hired!

PS- this person has so much other baggage that we can lean on when the going gets tough!

You don't get it, the RBD position has evolved into a check box for those shooting higher in the corp, the old days of long term, somewhat knowledgable RBDs are on life support.

It sad. The SE region has an all time low moral. This dick is ruining peoples lives for the sake of his own advancement. Is the company healthier after the multiple people he's fired and others he's chased off? I say no. He's in his position sheerly because our organization now finds nepotism more important then experience and compassion. AW secretly gathers info on his other RBD's for a future back stabbing when the music stops- he reaches out and meets with the other AMRO's behind the RBD backs. WATCH OUT. This guy is a career killer and every hack lawyers dream come true...

You forgot to mention that he is incredibly insecure! Always wants to know what the other regions are doing since he can't come up with any bright ideas himself!

Honestly- the guy has Asperger Syndrome. He is incredibly awkward in social situations and feels threatened by anyone that can out together a full sentence.

Asperger syndrome (AS), also known as Asperger's syndrome, Asperger disorder (AD) or simply Asperger's, is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests. It differs from other autism spectrum disorders by its relative preservation of linguistic and cognitive development. Although not required for diagnosis, physical clumsiness and atypical (peculiar or odd) use of language are frequently reported.[1][2] The diagnosis of Asperger's was eliminated in the 2013 fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) and replaced by a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder on a severity scale.[3]
