SAN ANTONIO & CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Acelity L.P. Inc. and Joerns RecoverCare announced today they have entered into a long-term partnership to bring together Acelity’s gold standard negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) products with Joerns RecoverCare’s excellent reputation for service and product support in the skilled nursing facility (SNF) market in order to provide the best value for customers.

“We are excited about this opportunity to unite the strengths of two strong brands—and their value propositions—to benefit our customers”

Joerns RecoverCare will distribute industry-leading V.A.C.® Therapy Systems, part of the KCI suite of NPWT products, to selected SNF and long-term acute care hospital customers nationwide. In addition, Joerns RecoverCare will be the service provider for Acelity’s SNF customers in the U.S., providing them with Joerns’ exceptional level of service and support. During the next several weeks, Acelity and Joerns RecoverCare will be working closely with customers to demonstrate the enhanced value of our partnership, and to make necessary transition arrangements.

“We are excited about this opportunity to unite the strengths of two strong brands—and their value propositions—to benefit our customers,” said Mark Hostak, Chief Commercial Officer of Joerns RecoverCare. “The addition of KCI NPWT products will further strengthen our advanced wound care strategy, which offers a wide range of clinically proven, economically beneficial healing and prevention therapies.”

“This partnership will allow for skilled nursing facilities and their patients to have greater access to V.A.C.® Therapy,” said Rohit Kashyap, Senior Vice President and General Manager for Acelity’s Advanced Wound Therapeutics Business in the U.S. and Canada. “This means that more facilities across the U.S. can address chronic and acute wounds earlier, leading to a better patient care experience and outcomes, while improving the overall total cost of care.”

Since its introduction by Kinetic Concepts, Inc. in 1995, V.A.C.® Therapy has been selected as the treatment of choice for more than nine million wounds worldwide. For more information about V.A.C.® Therapy Units and Systems, please visit www.kci1.com/KCI1/vactherapy.

Doesn't Joerns/recover care carry other Negative pressure? Are they going to drop those companies or offer 3 options to accounts?

Outsourced: VA, LTC...no question there is something on the table for Post Acute and perhaps even Acute. Sadly enough a 7 year deal like this shows the writing on the wall

They dumped the Medela pump and went with the VAC. Are they going to lower the rental price of the VAC or they are they going to sell the pumps to Recovercare? Should we expect layoff because of the overlap?

Obviously there is not enough margin to pay a Joerns and/or RevcoerCare rep commissions plus us. Sadly enough once again we are in the dark. Would be nice if management would give us direction.

Management giving direction is never going to happen. It's all about them, profit, and getting their bonuses even though they didn't achieve financial results. A good company wouldn't be run this way.

Clearly we are now a post-acute focused company? Gauze? TMVs should go elsewhere if they want to work for a top-notch company that can compete in the acute care market. Look what we've sunk too..a new low.

Why the hell would we offer gauze? So for 3% of the market we now have discredited 20 years of our foam story against the "anti-christ" of NPWT. Ive heard that gauze works well in a lot of patients but now our competitors will so to our referral sources saying "KCI lied about gauze, lied about selling through partners, lied about instillation therapy,...etc.etc.etc.

Instill in SNF's, mark my words...#gamechanger. What a joke, instill has become a money pit for hospitals and all we say is look at our study we cut LOS from 17 to 14 days at Georgetown. Who stays in Acute for 14 days??? Now I hear that we are going to push Instill in SNF and we are not even the source for sales/
