Every state is different in terms of when you can collect and how much they pay. Go check out your state's website, you'll get better information than the flaming responses you've gotten so far.
Get on your state's Dept of Labor website and there will be sections discussing unemployment. It really does matter where you live.

Every state is different. Some states require you to exhaust your severance before collecting unemployment. Check state websites
