    Amgen Job Description The Head of the Proteasome Inhibitor Business will be accountable to establish and achieve the franchise vision for the US Proteasome Inhibitor Business, including most importantly, the successful launch of carfilzomib. S/he will lead the US Sales and Marketing efforts and be responsible for establishing Onyx as a recognized leader in the myeloma arena.
    Essential/Primary Duties and Responsibilities
    Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the Head of the Proteasome Inhibitor Business will be accountable to establish and achieve the franchise vision for the US Proteasome Inhibitor Business, including most importantly, the successful launch of carfilzomib. S/he will lead the US Sales and Marketing efforts and be responsible for establishing Onyx as a recognized leader in the myeloma arena. In addition, this executive will be a member of the Commercial Leadership Team and partner
    with the Global Commercial Franchise leader and Commercial lead for the Proteasome Inhibitor business in Europe to recommend a global strategy for this franchise.

    The specific priorities for the position include:

    • Oversee and lead the successful launch of carfilzomib and the pipeline proteasome inhibitor
    • Partner with the Global Head of Reimbursement Value and Access.
    • Oversees hiring and deployment of the sales team for Carfilzomib
    • Provide input to Global Marketing Team for Carfilzomib Lifecycle plan and pipeline
    • Partners with Development, Regulatory, Legal, and Compliance teams to ensure
    • Attract hire, and retain top oncology-experienced talent.
    • Identifies products and provide assessment of potential in-licensing/acquisition targets to add cross-functional alignment and compliance with all laws and regulations. programs based on US market needs and US pricing strategy for Carfilzomib programs.
    Experience

    The ideal candidate will have significant US commercial expertise in a pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology company, including successful product launches and life cycle management of oncology products.
    A minimum of 10-15 years of experience in building and leading commercial teams, including the leadership of a successful sales team is required.
    The successful candidate must possess a motivational leadership style that has evolved as a result of broad exposure to different types of teams, varied functional disciplines and operational challenges. The successful candidate must have strong business and commercial acumen and demonstrated creativity in problem solving.
    Qualified candidates for this important position will therefore need to demonstrate the following critical competencies:

    • Strategic Leadership: The successful candidate will understand the strategic objectives of the company and translate these objectives into the product commercialization strategies and subsequent programs and projects in the near term through a five-year horizon. Market Development:
    This executive has a thorough understanding of the US market and an awareness of the international market. S/he is able to translate strategy into action through brand planning and execution, ethically creating the appropriate market segments/niches for the company and make fact based tradeoffs when necessary. Building & Leading Teams: The successful candidate will have a track record of successfully building and leading high performing sales and marketing teams. The ideal candidate will develop a culture comfortable with challenging current market paradigms to achieve and exceed goals.
    • Collaboration: The candidate will use the informal structure, dynamics and culture to get things done.
    Basic Qualifications  Doctorate degree & 8 years of directly related experience
    OR
     Master’s degree & 10 years of directly related experience
    OR
    • Bachelor’s degree & 12 years of directly related experience
    AND
     8 years of direct managerial experience
     Previous experience managing other managers
