    Yes, CT and Amgen sales/marketing talking heads in TO have time and again mismanaged their own people at both at the corporate level and with the Field sales Team, misguided their own teammates or their direct reports in order to CYA, misjudged the necessary strategy/tactics to assure quick market penetrationg for Prolia, mishandled the Launch/Rollout of this product to our main HCP customer base (Primary Care)......

    The arrogance of this company is what continues to amaze me. Amgen hasn't had to sell a product in years. Amgen designs and delivers aggresive contracts, but beyond that is a very poorly run sales organization with equally poor sales training. SELLING to primary care is something that can be done, but never will at Amgen because those in charge have never had to do the dirty work of selling in the most difficult marketplace within the US Healthcare system (that is, PRIMARY CARE). The days of Medicare Part B blindly paying for most of Amgen drugs is coming to an end VERY quickly because Med B is changing how it doles out the money. Amgen management is not prepared for this. Amgen management is to insecure to recommend alternative ideas to move product and too spoiled with millions in Amgen stock to really care. They are in it to save their jobs, not to help us grow in our career, they are in this to play more political games and tie us down in papaerwork than to support us in doing what we do best-help HCP provide and gain access so our products can benefit the most patients. According to colleagues, there are BHBU managers who have never launched a product, never even carried a bag, never been in management (I have checked on this and it is true)....it goes on and on and on....

    All I can say is thank goodness for the cancer label upcoming, because prolia is a debacle to date, and the only thing Amgen should start thinking about is how to being in a new management team.

    Every freakin word of this is TRUE. and it just not applies to sales team but cross functional development as well. 80% of the folks have no clue there about the PCP market, how it functions, what clinical messaging resonates with the provider, the cut throat competition and expectations are resonable in terms of uptake of the drug. these KOOLAID drinking idiots can't even comprehend that osteoporosis is NOT on the radar screen of any payer and the PCP doc in the presence of MULTIPLE cheap alternatives will not be very passionate about Prolia. THIS WAS A SPECALIST DRUG CATERED FOR A NICH MARKET FROM THE GECKO. And that selling model was what Amgen is good at.....selling expensive products to specialist market. Morons couldnt even figure it out and change their strategy (and price) after the RDAC meeting.

    MED part B is changing but to affect such a politically well connected company like amgen would take atleast 2-3 years unless radical policy change happens at the White house and upper echelons of health and govt's financial managers.

    The ONLY hope left is D-mab Onc where expectations look good, clear superiority and sale channels are blended with Amgen's core competencies in the onc/specialist field.

    BTW I am a physician who joined Amgen a year ago in development and still regretting...

    IT is highly possible. Think about what it is costing Amgen for the managers and sales reps. For California alone, you can get rid of 3-4 managers and still function like other companies. Merge 2-3 territories for 1 rep. Why not? Oncology indication will be worth so much more.

    When all else fails and you can't get attention anywhere else in any other aspect of your life, why don't you go to Cafe Pharma and post fictitious realignment information? Thats a great way to get people to pay attention to you!

    If you want to leave; then leave. Good luck finding a job. We hire a great deal of big pharma reps and there are a few who cannot elevate to the next level and the complexities of the biotech sale. Don't feel bad or inadequate. You can go back to big pharma and hide in your pod selling and continue your career in mediocrity.

    At least you might get paid for EVERY script that you sell unlike Amgen that doesn't pay you for EVERY script that you get...what's wrong with that picture Mr. Koolaid?

    You are incorrect. You must not be in BHBU. Reps in Bone Health only gets paid with we hit the threshold(s). So someone who sales 29 by the end of Sept or 79 by the end of Dec will receive $0 in bonus.
