I am so devastated by today's call. I never thought this would happen in one of America's leading pharmacecutical giants. How could I leave a secure cosmetics counter job at Macys to come here and face elimination after a year. I mean I did all of the right things (if you know what I mean) with my manager and customer. What do I do now? Please offer advice as I am besides myself.

20% cuts across the board for Primary Care.....Do they think we are stupid...LMFAO. Let's do the math. Example only. 2000 Primary Care Reps across the USA. For the sake of easy math... 1000 are in the current cluster 1. The other 1000 are in the current cluster 2. Cluster 1 is not being touched (until 2014). We are told the 20% cut will be from the 2000 (across the board they said). 20% of 2000 is 400 cuts. 400 cuts will be coming out of cluster 2...not cluster 1. A 400 reduction in cluster 2 (1000 - 400) is a 40% cut for cluster 2...not 20%. Pfizer leadership is playing on words and trying to soften the blow to all cluster 2 Field Sales. If you are in cluster 2, dot be mislead by the 20%. It's 40%.

Post "agree" if you are in Cluster 2 and couldn't believe the idiots from Cluster 1 asking all the questions during today's call. They needed to shut up and hang up.

Really, no layoffs at all were mentioned on the call whether cluster 1 or 2. Grow up and stop being so narrowed minded and naive. Also, stop drinking the kool aid. Watch your back, as cluster 1 will be next. Or do you BELIEVE that your group is safe for life

In 2012 you used to be able to look back a 2009 posts... You can actually see history repeating itself....

And what will happen in 2015,16,17? Hmmmm Don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out Pfizer. Expense reduction is their mantra. Let's not even talk about Obamacare, hospitals buying practices and access drying up everyday! Writing is on the wall my friends. If you're still here, use your time wisely for a good exit strategy (unless you're close to retirement).

Sadly, the last line: BUYS some real PC meds.

Sadly, this is the truth. The OLD Pfizer was innovative and creative. Now, Pfizer must purchase companies with drugs in order to compete.

    So sad...

And that helps the changing healthcare environment how? Does it stop the consolidations/practice buying, does it improve the access that is dwindling everyday. Will it force the insurance companies to pay for the meds when generics are rampant. How many truly innovative drugs are launched every year or are on the market today). Even if they cover it- with formularies changing rx coverage (more tiers/shared costs instead of flat 5/10/20/30 dollar copays), how long will the party last? I think the writing is on the wall and it isn't pretty. Sad but unfortunately true my friends. The way the ELTs of the pharmaceutical companies (all of them-but led by Pfizer) screwed this career up is a damn shame.

Yes-lets buy another company, lay off a majority of their employees, close plants and research centers, decimate the towns where those facilities are....basically ruin more people's lives. It's the Pfizer way.

When will you people realize that CP has moles who post this sh*t to get you all riled up? The more people on this board, the more eye$ divereted to the adds on your immediate left. Wake up.

Strictly speaking, it's the American way. And Americans wouldn't have it any other way...as long as it doesn't impact them personally.

There are 2 ways to get a new drug: 1) spend a ton of money and time on research that may pan out 2) get out the checkbook and take a plane trip to meet with the BOD of a company that already has something.

    #2 is the most accurate.

I've been looking at CP for 6 years. Of all of the stupid posts I have seen, yours takes the cake.

Except Pfizer tried to do the last one(AZ) for mostly tax reasons. BTW- they just announced another $11 billion stock buyback. Wall Street thinks that kills the AZ deal now. Especially with the new laws limiting inversion. Don't know if that's the case but it's in the news today.

Next big cut will come when we sell off 1 or 2 divisions. This buy back and recent cuts will keep us till the sell off. Move Lyrica and viagra to GEP, cut the C1 Reps, then sell it off. Stick it w future product liability and a mountain of debt.

That leaves GIP and VOC, less liability, less debt, and a mountain of cash from sale (think Zoetis).
