This recent round of cuts must not have been too bad-this site is usually "lit" up like a Christmas tree after a round of Pfizer cuts. It's fairly quite-that's good news. Btw, when does Lyrica go off patent-I believe 2015 or 2016. That's when it'll get really interesting.

Lyrica LOE is 12/30/2018, Viagra LOE is 12/11/2017. The next adjustment will be near Viagra LOE and things get real serious in the months before Lyrica goes away.

Maybe because the musical chair firings every year or two have now become the norm?

it's all part of the hope and change mantra they've adopted.

POAs this year were more about brainwashing team crap than learning how to sell. I feel like they are commie re-education camps keeping our individualism and open eyes in check. Do they study Mao's little red book at corporate?

I expect more team building crap poured on in full force now and horribly more in january. Our fast starts will have fast starts.

have you seen the bullshit being poured on with the new aspire awards? Wow?

these executive douchebags really think that crap soothes our pain and stress. It does for some of my idiot colleagues but not for most.

What would happen to all of our governance committees like MSC, GCMT, CPSDC, NPT, SNOT, BAD, PfCoL, PC, QRT, BMFC, BBMF? What will we do with nothing to govern. Oh, I know. Let's buy Abbott!

Ever get the feeling we are like contract reps now. Every year or two wait by the phone and see if you have a job.

It was "Not too bad" because in some geographies (Not all) pf placed some ppl w/ pm's in territories that are an hour, hour 1/2 & 2 hrs outside their current geographies/home and therefore as usual "saved" Frankie long ties $$$ and said either you take this placement or don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!

Does anyone else notice something strange here??? Under a normal FFO, these folks would have been cut. Of course, the vaccines openings softened the blow as well, lots of folks went there and that helped.

Always fewer layoffs than expected. Pfizer's way of motivating us by making us feel lucky and thankful that we work for such a great company.
Beware, and don't drink the kool aid; it ain't over! The methodical downsizing will continue until Pfizer discovers a new blockbuster....ha ha, fat chance of that.....or buys and pillages another company. I put my money on the latter.

They slaughtered DMs. They laid off more than 11% of reps?

how is that "not too bad"?

because they don't come in here and bitch?

Yes very true about the long commutes for some. some are working across the other side of big western states, or in other states and have to commute in.
I don't know about whether they would have been cut, but Some of those assignments were "saves".

Over 80 open positions just magically opened up.

There were no reps left in all of those districts to place?

I'm safe, who cares about everyone else. It's the Pfizer way, every man, woman, homo, trans, for him/her/ whatever self. Rah rah ME!

11% was just a random number tossed out there for a WebEx. Actual numbers were much higher. I made it once again, but part of me was hoping to get the severance and move on, collect 2 checks for a year and stop worrying about the next round of cuts.

I guess the only defense mechanism left is to just not care. At all. Don't work any harder than you have to, and don't make any friends in your new district because either you (or both) will be getting whacked in another 12-36 months, guaranteed.

The tidbit that I found most alarming was the WebEx slide detailing the pipeline timeline. The "breakout" year for return to growth was listed as 2019... 20 months ago a similar presentation listed 2017 as the "breakout" year... And I would guess that in 2016 they update the slide and list 2021 as the big year Pfizer begins to grow again. Of course by then there won't be a single product remaining with >$1B in sales, so growth may well happen by default. Or Pfizer might just go the way of 90% of the competition and get bought out.

Reminds me of the old song "Someday Never Comes"... Ok, time to go get drunk and work on my painkiller addiction...

Good...the most worthless position in any company. Do nothing kiss-ass-kissing phonies that are no more than glorified secretaries. Ratio could be 20-25 for each manager to screen expense reports. Hell, a computer can do that....make it 50:1. They know that and that's why they don't come here to bitch.....no one cares! How many reps have they dumped without a care?

Sorry, I have had at least 10 managers, I know what they are supposed to do, but of the ten, maybe 8 were worth two shits. Let's be real, a ride along companion is not worth a hi six figure salary. Probably have some value to a rookie rep for the first six mos. after that...??????
So, good riddance. Let them go on linked in and lie, fabricate more bullshit, and go to work as a contract rep. No tears from me.

Be careful who you wish a contract job to.....it may be in your future my friend! I'm sure no one will shed a tear for you either. As far as DMs being worthless-I'm sure you are earning your salary everyday also. Please... Pot and kettle together forever!!

Well stated. If every single rep were let go and replaced by contract reps, do you think there would be a tremendous impact on sales. Based on the posts on this site, it looks like most calls are either BS or sample drops. Lunches are a joke-mostly for staff and you're lucky if you get 20 seconds with a doctor while he gets his/her lunch and runs. Do you want to talk about dinner programs-please, whats the ROI on those fiascos. Oh yea, relationships sells-maybe 15/20 years ago. With managed care formularies, hospitals buying practices and access shutting down....contract seems like a good option. Yea, DMs are worthless. That's pretty funny coming from a rep.

Not my future. Moving on to greener pastures...and yes, there are great jobs out here paying more than this shitty job pays. I expect no tears, and I give no tears. When we signed on for these jobs we knew the benefits as well as the risks. Well the risks are biting us in the ass. I made it thru this one and am pissed, wanted to grab the severance but this is no way to live or work. I'm just like you, doing the minimum to get by. At this point who cares?

All true but we were so special and we deserved our 6-figure salaries. Real work should be done by those damn Democrats, not us.

? why does it always come back to politics. This job was not ruined by democrats or republicans. The ELTs of big Pharma(started by Pfizer) ruined it-not the government. Did the government say hire an army of reps, create multiple pod systems, call on doctors twice a week (or have six reps call on the same doctor), hire cheer leaders because of how they looked, charge outrageous prices for essentially me-too products. We reaped what was sown. Time to move on my friend.
