    Can anyone give any insight on the Henry schein interview process? How is the personality/IQ testing-similar to Pattersons testing? Thanks!

    Save yourself, your career and dignity. Don't get into dental sales. HSD, Patterson, BENCO: they are all the same. Eventually all merch business is going to go to the internet-based companies. It's all about price for your clients and prospects - no matter what your manager and the Big Boys at corporate HQ tell you.

    They look for a different type of person.

    I hear you have TO FAIL the IQ test to be considered.

    This is not true at all.

    You need reps to call on docs to prospect, not be order takers.

    Online you can't help a doc know that you hear a sound with their compressor that should be checked. Hand piece diagnostic. There is much value add you can do to gain loyalty and have them want to do business with you. Believe it or not, they need you to pick things out and make decisions.

    You sound like an order taker and should probably move on.

    1. Retail reps are an endangered species No Matter what you read here. Does the milkman still come to your house (unless it is in the middle-of-the-day to see your mom - after shaving her back) ?

    2. They couldn't care less about the compressor until it stops. Then they buy a new one from whomever is cheaper.

    3. Hand piece diagnostic? Are you serious. Again, they will use it until it dies, then blame you, the mfg, staff or whover is handy and bully you into giving them a loaner and fixing the dead one for free 'or I won't buy from you anymore".

    4. "Believe it or not, they need you to pick things out and make decisions." NO THEY DO NOT. They look at you as a waste of time and money and a nuisance to the practice unless you are giving them something free or baking cookies for them. What clinical advice can you give them ? How to do dentistry? Yeah, that will win you popularity contests. Clinical advice from a street peddler. Uh huh. "Business" advice ? from who? Someone with a vested interest - like a retail peddler. Please. Be My Guest.

    You sound like an imbecile-in-denial , which is perfect for outside retail dental 'sales'.

    6. Your days are numbered. Get over it. Retail is dying. One too many nights at the horn parlor. . . The patient has full-blown AIDs and is short-of-breath and losing weight. Take appropriate action and have your affairs in order.
