Why the high turnover?

Hahahahaha!!!!! This was a great post. Thanks for the laughs. So true! For the record, it's not just the young and beautiful women leaving. I know of FIVE tenured reps with multiple years of sales experience who left in the past couple of months. I've been here for a few years but am actively looking to get out of this toxic company/environment. The people that need to get fired are the management team. DG, DM, etc. one of my associates in NY/NJ was telling me about their specialist and how he has been kicked out of nearly Acct he touches due to unethical and abrasive sales tactics: going over people's heads aggressively, accusing doctors of basically not knowing what they are doing/being a shitty surgeon, trying to upsell products that haven't been approved for trial, and just basically coming across as a disrespectful, crass and arrogant old man that can't be bothered with anyone except the decision makers. This aforementioned individual is a cancer that should be fired immediately if all these statements are true IMO. I would ask this to anyone ever thinking of joining this company: if security was called to escort another team member off the premises or a letter was specifically written that this person was basically the reason why an evaluation failed, and this person is still allowed to be employed by the company (and STILL told by management it's ok!!!!!), would you want to be a part of a culture like this? Someone like this is a cancer and needs to go.

CULTURE??? What culture? The one they preach but don't follow themselves. This place is a paycheck and that's it. It is hard to respect our leader when you witness him yell at a gardener doing is job because the leaf blower was to loud. Unfortunately the gardener did not have magic powers, and could see that the self appointed king was in a room with all window covering ya down speaking. This was offsite and can you believe the gardener did not know tha all mighty Applied was there and forgot to bow.

This is a get some experience under your belt and move on place, but at least they bring in good lookin girls for us to stare at.

Hahahahaha. You guys kill me. Well fuck, if a rumor is true, then you're right. I love how you can write and write about something that you heard that might or might not be true. And you're right. Hearing something like this if it's true, is reason why the company blows.

I'm not proud to say it, but I work here under DM and can say that all of the above is true. All of the reps/specialists have heard by now what JM did and it is definitely cause for concern how he can still be employed here. Whoever the above poster is is just trying to do damage control. If someone at an account pointed a finger directly at JM and was the SOLE reason an evaluation failed, or was the reason for a bunch of business being lost at multiple accounts in SM's territory, wouldn't one come to the conclusion that he should be fired? How does being escorted out of an account by security look? An intelligent human being use deductive reasoning and say "time to go." We are all wondering how JM is still employed here after multiple incidents like this. Noone likes working with him. He's two-faced and has been known to point the finger at everyone but himself and never takes responsibility for his wrong doings. Most of us think he's being protected by DG, DM or DW since he's part of the South Jersey crew, but what do I know? Speaking of which, I almost forgot to add the part how he bitches and whines worse than a 4 y/o girl when he has to DO HIS JOB every day and come up to North Jersey or NY to cover a case or work. Then he has the audacity to scream and throw a temper tantrum when he's told to actually work. I've only been here for the better part of a decade, but rest assure, we're all looking for new jobs. Energy is never coming. Management is clueless and lazy and only know how to dictate commands like a drill sergeant. Compensation is not what it used to be and most of all, morale is at an all time low. If JM is reading this, please retire and do the company a favor. Noone wants to work with you and when you start taking money out of people's pockets, you need to take a look in the mirror and realized you're way overpaid for the [lack of] work you do.
    Sincerely,
    A disgruntled employee

Why the high turnover rate you ask? Because upper management likes it.

Wow. If this is the guy I'm thinking of, he's definitely got to be let go. I worked here awhile ago and agree w/ everything thats been said. I hope SM gets a new product specialist soon because JM is only bringing everyone down.

wow...this is shocking to read. I currently work at Stryker and have been looking around at other jobs out there recently just to see whats out there. I recently was told about a position with AM in Virginia...never thought a company could have such drama and horrible reviews such as these...any know if these stories are isolated to up in the North or would you expect the same in Virginia? Is there any way to be hired as a TM versus an associate right out of the gates?

What's Pip and Cip working on? Are they going to use Acidity and Alcholinity? Wait no such thing as being nice. I forgot the rules which that they follow, which is screw the ethicality that Applied teaches and screw long term company image in order to hit quota and do what you want. When it doesn't work out blame it on the guy behind you and management.

What division of Stryker? You can probably bet your paycheck its a national problem. Speak to your recruiters if u don't believe this board. This place is BAD NEWS. You're from Stryker for Christ's sake, they're a Top Tier med device company, why would you ever want to go to Applied?

How is the clinical education specialist in the Northeast? Ours is OK. Helps us turn over accounts and gets new business. Sure, it seems like an issue to charge a doc $250 for a class, but if it gets me new accounts I'm all for it. Why ARE people leaving in the Northeast?

Why did McCartney send Yoko to Lennon's hotel room when she knocked on his door first?

Wtf??? Back to the issue at hand, everyone is leaving the northeast because DM is out of touch with reality. The old man who hasn't sold a thing in over a decade isn't in touch with Applied's customers or the reps for that matter. He's lost at least 6 or 7 solid reps in the past few months and thats just the ones I know or have heard about. As for the product specialist, i'm not sure what territory you're referring to, but Philly has some newbies and the guy in NY is only doing this until he's either forced into retirement or is fired but my sources tell me he is bad news.

I would have sent Yoko to Lennon's room too! The greater issue was with Eric Clapton stealing George Harrison's girl.

Treat people like crap and you get crap in return, in this case "high turnover"! And that's exactly what DM does!!!!
Talk to customers in a manner of authority, disrespect and "you need Applied more than we need your business" attitude and you get customers who are tired of the same AM BS! And that's what DM does!
DM "trains" his managers to be mini versions of himself!
The comp plan works against you being successful!
And like AM customers, AM TM's get fed up and leave....

Bottom line, time for DM to retire! Time for AM to treat their sales personnel with the respect they deserve!

Seriously? I would like to take a vote of all of the sales reps in the history of business. Who really expects to be respected? We are sales reps and the reputation precedes us before we even show up at the doctor's office. Maybe you were lucky enough to be around a manager all of the time where for me I was on my own over 90% of my tenure with Applied. The systemic problems with turnover is with company policy and lagging territory issues. Be a good little hermaphrodite and read all of the previous entries then you should be able to respond. Your like the child that goes to bed with a scratchy bum and wakes up with an stinky finger. Make sure you wash your hands before shaking hands with the doctor.

Just washed my hands and here is what I gathered. Eliminate course fee's to increase surgeon attendance, change return policy to solve old product residual issues, hold field ops accountable for being unbusiness friendly to accounts that cost further business. Account issues are like built up scarring from previous surgeries. Said talks about leaving as small of a footprint on the patients abdomen. Well that small footprint shouldn't the the scale to the large one that has been put up the sales rep's asses from bad hospital relations.

Is that an acceptable answer as to why reps leave and why it causes a chain reaction from rep to rep?

Paul passed Yoko to John and Eric took George's girl for the same reason because they could!

Is it common for AM to hire specialists and fly them in to territories instead of hiring local people who may be familiar with the accounts? I've heard several specialists don't even live anywhere near their assigned territory and are flown in to work the region. Isn't this a waste of money??? Are these people that good???
