Trading was halted on Zoetis after it spiked on word that Valeant was making bid for the company. It looks like another winner for Ackman who has a large stake in Zoetis.

At first I thought... Why? No synergies at all!
But now I see it. VRX does not have the global presence that ZTS has.
ZTS is in every major market with a proven management structure, both of which VRX needs.
Seems like they are going to need to pay a huge premium to get it or setup their own which would take years with huge risks

They will get it. They always get what they want minus the Allergan deal

    Minus the Ista deal

    Minus the cephalon deal

Apparently Valeant only met with Zoetis at the request of Ackman. Nothing serious.

The stock was about $20 a decade ago, and now sits at $225. You are going to sit here and try being critical of management? What a fucking loser

Better argument would have been when it was at $8 seven years ago when Pearson started.

That person wasn't criticizing management but pointing out deal dynamics. Where they are wrong is that Valeant has a strong international presence though not global to the posters point which is maybe a good thing.

Proven management structure is not something either company has in every country. Or perhaps overall. Outside of Pearson who is proven in management. The guy in Eastern Europe maybe.

Company won't build its own animal care. Valeant doesn't build anything. Premium wouldn't be that high because ZTS is overvalued.

Just because VRX has Pearson doesn't mean the rest in HQ or every country/region is good or even there: structure.
ZTS overvalued? Yeah riiiiight. Global company with this infrastructure, excellent profitability (soon to be even better) don't think so.

Not to mention the tax benefit of Canada vs. US. I guess inversion rules don't apply if foreign company is acquiring
