Two Mobile doctors are facing federal charges for allegedly committing health care fraud and illegally distributing pain pills.

Dr. John Patrick Couch and Dr. Xiulu Ruan were indicted by a grand jury last month in the U.S. District Court in Mobile for conspiracy to distribute controlled substances outside the usual course of professional practice and not for a legitimate medical purpose, and conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud.

Couch and Ruan jointly own Physician's Pain Specialists of Alabama, according to the indictment. PPSA has two locations in Mobile at 2001 Springhill Ave., and 4682 Airport Blvd. Additionally, they own C&R Pharmacy, located adjacent to their practice on Airport Boulevard.

The Feds are warming up in the bullpen. This will not be a happy ending for INSYS.

You mean Galena? These two doctors literally kept abstral alive. This has nothing to do with Insys. You must find a life of your own.

What insys forgot is that when these crooks get busted they will squeal like the pigs they are and tell the Feds about everyone they were involved with including you insys people. You think they give a crap about you and will stay quiet? Or do you think they will tell everything you did with them to the Feds begging for mercy? It is truly hitting the dan and will get even worse as the dea compiles more and more in you criminals :)

They billed medicare. Subsys is NOT a buy and bill product. No money made on subsys. Too expensive to sell on street. You sound ridiculously stupid. We don't pay doctors to collect urine either. Pharma is a relatively clean business. Just don't get involved in the PISS.

How long have you worked here? You must be aware that the company negotiates fat, profitable contracts on an individual account basis in dispensing pharmacies. These two docs were making bank by writing the prescriptions and then getting paid a hefty incentive to dispense product onsite to the patient. Greed is a dangerous thing.

We don't sell a 'breakthrough cancer med'.
What we do sell is a 'pain' medication for breakthrough pain to cancer patients through physicians that treat pain.

Do you even know what the word 'several' means?

The opening line of this article clearly spells out that these doctors were arrested for illegally selling pain pills. Insys doesn't sell any pain pills, so I have to ask - what is your point?

you don't sell anything at all. Well your Sales Director Sunrise clearly sold something... and it wasn't meds.

But the rest of you don't and can't sell anything. You need to be halfway educated to do that. You pay and bribe to get your products prescribed.

Glad to see misogyny and slut shaming hasn't gone out of style. Grow up.

If no one attended the presentation, except for the InSys rep, the presenter was highly compensated and there really was no presentation. I question the ethics of all involved, including the Insys Leadership for letting this happen. (and I don't own a share of their stock, never have)

They are dumping high producing salesmen, throwing them to the wolves, so the feds have bulls eyes on their backs. They are using suspensions of dinners so they can claim they didn't realize what the reps were doing.....
